13 pounds!!!!! Way to go mama! She is so perfect and full and doesn't have that newborn look in any way, shape or form. She is beautiful. I can't wait to read your birth story. A 13 pounder at home, unassisted, should help rest all my questions and fears of doing this one unassisted.

Great job & Congrats!

GORGEOUS!!!

Her name is just so strong and powerful, I was trying to picture a baby who would warrant that name and then WOW! Her pictures! She's an Amulet alright!

Good work, Mama!

oh, and is fat really just more "Squishy" as they say?

Good heavens she's just plain delicious!! I wanna kiss her all over! She's gorgeous and I love her name (I considered Amulet for a girl! Sapphire is my birth stone ) Maybe you can tell me: What IS it like to have a 10+ lb NEWBORN?? big babies are fine to push out but having a big ol bubble of love baby would freak me out. I'd keep waiting for the baby to sit up when it was just a day or two earthside Anyway, congratulations again. I'm so happy for you!!

Namaste, Tara

LOL!!!!!!!! OH, thank you mamas for all the wonderfully loving & hilarious replys!!!!!!!

It's funny - she has been my biggest baby but she was only a little bit harder to get out than the others. I pushed for two contractions for her head, and then 4 contractions to get her big shoulders out. Then one contraction for the rest of her torso, then one for her legs to slip out.

Babies are all so different......one of my 12 pounders had a much larger head than Amulet, so I really felt his head more so.....yet Amulet had a smaller head than him & very large shoulders. I got her head out & had some OMG moments with the shoulders! Most of her weight seems to be in her delicious fat.....which compresses quite nicely during birth! I do always birth in a hands & knees position because I feel that at least for me it gives me the benefit of gravity (i keep my arse pointed down a little) plus kind of moderates the pressure on my perineum so there's no tearing! I have great luck with this position with my fattys.

NEVER.....never let them tell you your baby is too big to birth vaginally. I really mean it! I'm just a normal sized woman & every single one of my babes has come out just fine. I believe it is because I am not being told what do to & when to do it. When I am on my own - just with family - I just DO it.
