I'm surprised about all the nos to circumcision. Our yes is a religious one though. But for the most part we are pretty lined up with everyone else on here on just about everything else. Weird. Lol

Hey yea and most of the answers were "HELL NO!" Lol

Oh well. I get it though.

What are you reasons. Are you Jewish? Or Christian turned Torah observant? We became Torah observant after our daughter was born.

About you:
How old are you? I'll be 32 later this month.
Where are you? Northern Virginia
Are you currently PG? Yes...5 weeks on Monday
Are you/Did you UP? I did a partial UP (to 30 weeks) with #3 ...this is #5 and I'm planning to UP other than what is necessary for legal proof of pregnancy.
Are you telling others about your UC plans? Only one person knows so far and she is open to the idea. I will likely keep it fairly quiet to keep the drama and potential issues to a minimum.
Have you UCed before? No...birth #4 was close, but the midwife's assistant showed up about 15 minutes prior to the end of labor. She just hung back and let DH continue guiding me (it was a really intense labor, probably brought on by combination of 'natural' interventions.

About your family:
How long have you been with your s.o.? We started dating 15 years ago and got married 12 years ago.
How many children do you currently have? 4 biological...10, almost 8, 6, and almost 2. We are also raising my 13 year old nephew.
Will your older children be present for the birth? I don't know yet. Each time before, my kids have been asleep during the birth.
Will you/do you:
Co-Sleep? Yes, baby-led...
Wear your baby? Yes
Cloth-diaper? Maybe
Breastfeed? Yes
Immunize/Vaccinate your baby? We delay and selectively vaccinate.
Circumcise your baby? Yes, but I will be working hard to find another Mohel who will perform it for us the way it was done for my oldest --hopefully at our home again. We are not Jewish, but that was an amazing spiritual ceremony, and was nothing like the procedure performed at the doctors office/hospital.
Homeschool? Yes. I HS my oldest three and will homeschool #4 , and # 5 when the time comes. My nephew goes to public school. On one hand, I hate the environment he's in, but I think this is the better situation for both me and him.
Follow a special diet? (e.g. Vegan, macrobiotic, etc.) No special diets, other than trying to eat healthily on a tight budget...

You were quoting someone else, but I thought I would jump in. My husband and I are Christians who have learned that sometimes we just have to go by faith and we 'just know' when something needs to be done. In this case, this is something we both just know needs to be done. And having been there to see this procedure done on my 8 day old son, to feel the complete peace and joy that filled our home, to see how my son was in only a tiny bit of discomfort, to have been told by the Mohel to go nurse him to comfort him...it all just meshed with our overall philosophies. I've 'needed' to find someone different, after moving, with my last two pregnancies. But it never became a priority. And they were both girls. This time, I think I'm having another boy. Maybe I'm wrong, but I NEED to get someone lined up during this pregnancy. ;-)

Can you tell me how it was done, with the Mohel? My last baby I circumcised on day 8. I took him in myself. My dr did not do anything for pain. I watched the most horrible procedure ever on my poor baby as they screwed his skin off a bit at a time and used a wire to poke it all around so it would "look nice" i suppose ? She used nothing for pain and strapped him to a table. I will never do that to my boys again. My first boy was a twin hospital c-section. I did not go and my husband refused. That I why I went at day 8 with my son. My husband was so sure that the pain would be minimal... It did not seem to bother him after. The process was terrible though.
