I've always maintained (barring emergent circumstances of course) that one of the most wonderful gifts we can give to our children is enabling them to choose their own birthdays

Thanks for the update, Sara! Hang in

I am so excited for you. I can only imagine the anticipation you have been feeling over the last month or so. I just wanted to stop by and say congratulations (if a bit early) on your birth. You are doing wonderfully. I can't wait for your birth story. Oh, and I like how your hospital runs. Mine would have freaked out at this point. Stupid them.....

W (26) and C (27) parenting G (11/06 ) and D (2/09 ) plus a new one (3/11)
Sometimes the greener grass is actually AstroTurf, a false promise and nothing more.

I've been so busy doing last minute decluttering, etc. that I havn't been posting on here regularly. Just wanted to send lots of hugs your way You are doing great hanging in there. DD was born at 42 weeks 6 days-she was 8 pounds. Whether your baby is really almost 10 pounds could or could not be true. I've heard that they are off on predicting weight. No matter the weight, I'm sure everything will be great.

Robin Jones Gunn? Way OT... But isn't she the author of a series of books with a teenage character names Christy or something similar?

OP, I'd do exactly what you're doing... Wait and wait and wait... As long as you feel fine, babe is moving, and everything else you've already read here, personally I'd let babe be. to both of you!

She is an author of many Christian Fiction book. An excellent author and one of my favorite. Not sure about the Christy series though.

As far as all the stories of late term babies bveing a ok, great wonderful. But, there are plenty of stories that did not turn out all wonderful and full of rainbows.
Posting a great story does not take away the facts that allowing a pregnancy to go far past term involves risks to the baby and the mother.

I'll add 14 more rainbow stories. My mom and my Aunt went three weeks over every time. Lots of healthy, homebirthed, post dates babies. And yeah, they had a lot of kids!

Hi, everyone

Please remember the UC Forum Guidelines:

Quote:
The Unassisted Childbirth (UC) board is a forum of support, respectful requests for information, and sharing of ideas and experiences. To uphold this purpose the board will not host discussions of debate or criticism regarding UC. Disagreements about UC should be set aside out of respect for the diversity and varying interpretations and beliefs that we hold as a community.

While we will not restrict discussions only to those who birth without professional attendants, we will be active in discouraging an individual from posting with no sincere interest in exploring UC. Proselytizing against UC will not be permitted.
Please also remember that:

Quote:
Our discussions concern the real world of mothering and are first and foremost, for support, information, and community. Mothering invites you to read and participate in the discussions. In doing so we ask that you agree to respect and uphold the integrity of this community. Through your direct or indirect participation here you agree to make a personal effort to maintain a comfortable and respectful atmosphere for our guests and members.
Thanks to all for maintaining a supportive, informative thread based upon the OP's needs and questions. Please PM me if there are any questions

Thinking of you... Hoping you're holding your little one right now!

Peaceful mama to three blissfully-birthed and incredible small people: dd10, dd7 and ds5. Always awed and so thankful to be a midwife.
