My new baby boy (unnamed so far lol) arrived last night at 11pm after about an hour of labor. According to dating, I was 37wks 6days. I was in the bathtub and he came out after a push or two. Sounds so easy doesn't it? LOL Short labors are always intense, so I'm just glad it's over!

Anyone know how to get vernix out of hair?? I have never had one with hair before and it's not shampooing out, but his hair is coated.

COngratulations! And Wow @ an hour. I thought my fast labors were definitely intense but I can't compare to an hour lol.

I'd just let the vernix "soak into" or be absorbed by the skin. My dd I think was the only one that really had vernix on her and it only took a few days to go away on it's own, if I remember right.

Congratulations mama!!!!

My last babe had a lot of vernix & it just absorbed into her skin. Nothing is needed...cherish it right now because it will disappear very soon.

Yay! Welcome to the world, Little One!

Hey, just for information's sake -- with such a short labor, did you have a lot of prodromal labor in the weeks (maybe months) leading up to birth?

And, having had an 18 hour labor, a 4 1/2 labor and an hour, 40 minute labor, I can really say, I had to do the exact same amount of work for each... it's just some were spread out more!

Awwww congratulations.

Quick births can be so much easier to handle, even though they can be so much more INTENSE. :

Yeah - that!
I had a 38 hour, 9 hour and 1.5 hour labor - so I'm in agreement (though my 38 hour one was more intense than my 9 hour one )... but inquiring minds (that still have babies to come out ) would love to know the answer to Spark's question... if that isn't too side-tracked of a topic...

Congratulations on your wee one, it sounds like a wild ride!

My last was born at 39 weeks with tons of hair, and the vernix in the hair just about killed me. LOL. I just couldn't leave it alone. I waited 24 hours and then washed and washed it. I was quite pleased afterwards when it was all nice and fluffy. Congratulations!

Spark...I always have had short births. My longest was about 3 hours, if I can remember that far back. LOL

I always have prodromnal labor. Maybe that's part of it? The birth before this one was only 26 mins long. THAT birth was crazy in that I really wasn't in much pain at all. NOT so this time.

Crazy even was that this little guy was a peanut! My last two were nearly 11lbs and he was only roughly 7.13 and 21" long. He looks so tiny!!! Still nameless, blah!

The vernix was mostly gone from his hair after 24hrs. Thank goodness! Now I can see his fluffy head.

Congratulations Steph!!!! :

I was wondering if you were going to have a "10 minute" labor this time around. Congrats on your newest little man... can't wait to hear his name.
