I stalked her down this morning to check her blog (like I have done every day for the past couple weeks ) and what do you know....

he's here!

Looking forward to the birth story! I admit your blog post has me curious. I know you were planning a uc so I hope it went smoothly!

Congrats again.

Holy cow! I just read the birth story. Wow. Just wow. Sorry it wasn't the UC you were planning but like you said, it was what was needed. Way to go for sticking to your guns the way you did!

He's absolutely adorable! :

What an incredible story!! Congrats, Kidzaplenty! :

Peaceful mama to three blissfully-birthed and incredible small people: dd10, dd7 and ds5. Always awed and so thankful to be a midwife.

Congratulations! It reminds me somewhat of Sam's birth, which was in a hospital, by choice.

The nurses were nonplussed, to say the least, but I had about the most unassisted hospital birth you could imagine, and in the end they were thankful because I wasn't nearly the work the other birthers were. Basically went in as a vbac, told them no IV, no monitoring. I did offer a heplock, JIC, and external monitor once an hour. I think it drove her crazy that i KNEW what a heplock was, much less requested one. Then told her to go away until we called. Which dh did as Sam was crowning.

I'm sorry that your ds had some cord issues, but as you said, that's exactly what hospitals are for. I LOVE this story.:

Oh wow, how totally inspirational! That is the story I always hope to read when I read a hospital transfer story, especially the part about your Dh slapping the Dr's hand away Way to advocate for his wife when sh'es rather, um, preoccupied!

Congratulations on the Birth of a gorgeous little boy, rest well Mama, you deserve it

Wow Mama!

I am planning a homebirth, my first birth was a failed planned homebirth and I've been so so nervous about what if something goes wrong, what if I have to go to the hospital and your birth story was exactly how I'd want to react, and have my dh that supportive.

You are one in charge mama! And he is beautiful I love the freckles! :

Lisa, mama to Orion (7) , Fiona Star (born sleeping @ 38wks 12/6/08) , our bitty (m/c 7/27/09) , and Charlotte Athena (11/5/10)

Laura, mama to J (15), N (12), E (9) , M (6), and our little caboose, R (3).

Now that was an empowering birth story. I've had two births at home and am planning my third for Oct. I've had the idea of going to a hospital in the back of my head and just been really fearful of what it would be like for me.

After reading your story I feel equipped. I had no idea I could cross things out on a form, I always thought it was an all or nothing sort of thing.

Thanks for the education!
