I have a 22 month old with a strange looking 'rash', I'm not even sure it's a rash. I took her to the pediatrician and he said it's eczema and he said to put a heavy cream on it. I left the office and thought to myself - does itchiness always accompany eczema? She has not scratched once and does not seem the least bit bothered by it. She doesn't even know it's there.
For as long as I can remember she had a tiny dry patch of skin on her arm. I never thought to look into it since it really wasn't visible and it didn't bother her. I kind of forgot it was there. About a week or so, I noticed she developed a rash like appearance to it, but it still looks dry and still not itchy. It's light in color and almost flat and the shape is bigger than a quarter, but not a perfect circle. The edges seem to be pinkish. I noticed a small area on the opposite arm, very tiny spot.
Does this sound like eczema? I asked the doc if it could be something she is eating and he thought that the reaction would be much worse.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
My daughter's eczema (from corn) was not itchy. Mine (reaction to various antibiotics) is VERY itchy. So it defintely varies.
