I've noticed that for about a year now, I get these horrible mouth sores whenever I eat fresh pineapple, walnuts or a lot of chocolate. This has never been an issue before. How could I have suddenly developed an allergy?

Yes they can. They can be triggered by a big upset to the immune system such as a big stressor.

Yes, and what has begun as a more mild sensitivity can escalate into a full blown allergy with continued exposure and/or lowered immune response.
Most Naturopathic physicians can do simple blood testing to find out what exactly your sensitivities and allergies are.

Yes, when I was about 23 I suddenly developed an allergy to cherries, like overnight. I have no idea what that's about. I ate a handful of cherries and my lips swelled up so bad everybody thought my boyfriend beat me.

My mom in her late 50s suddenly developed an allergy to kiwis, having never had a problem with that before. Her throat started to close up and she almost went to the ER.

I don't really understand allergies.
