I just thought I would get on my little soap box and let you all know what has happened to us.

Because dd is having an incredibly hard time with her eczema, we opted to use oral steroids to help heal her up a bit. One Dr. we have seen let us know we couldn't come in for an office visit because of her recent small pox vax and the risk of infection to dd because of the use of steroids. Ok. Fine. We discussed our options, deciding that we should seek out a pediatric allergy specialist, but I was told to ask about the possibility of recent vacc's other dr's may have had. (assuming that we wouldn't be told as a matter of course)

Our appt. was today for a consult with the allergy Dr, so I called early to ask the vax question. A nurse in the clinic called me back saying that she didn't think anyone had been vaxed, but she would ask the administrator just to be sure. She came back on the line a bit flustered and informed me that no less than 3 dr's in the practice had been vaxed in the last week and a half!

Not only did most of the staff not know, but they hadn't considered the possibility that a child like mine may visit their clinic. I really think we were both rattled by this alarming bit of info.

I didn't know I would need to do their thinking for them.
What if...what if....what if...keeps running thru my mind.

My point is, these Dr's are getting vaxed and are still working so if you need to ask them this same question. please do!!

I think I will go cry now and see if I can stop shaking
