Well, now I'm freaked out. My 2 y.o. has eczema but we keep it fairly under control. A boy at school has horrid weeping eczema and yesterday ended up in the emergency room after touching a wet lima bean. The nurse told his folks to get him full allergy testing b/c allergies are very common w/eczema.
What do you know about this?
Is eczema really a weak immune system? How vulnerable are they?
Yikes

In my son's case - his eczema is related to his milk allergies. In my case - my eczema is weather related. I would have your child checked out though, just in case.

My family of 3 (plus pup) Indigo (Aimee), Rob (dp), Ryne (ds) & Phebe (dog), plus my BIL's family of 3.

It's believed that eczema is an immune disorder in that the system is hypersensitive or over-responds to irritants/allergens. From everything I've read, it's common that people with excema also have (or will develop) things like hay fever or asthma. One does not cause the other, but there seems to be a connection.

There aren't a lot of hard and fast rules about eczema--one person's trigger may not be another's and one person's remedy may not work for the next.
