I have been giving my DD (11 months) camilia at night for teething for about a month or two. It didn't seem to be helping and may have actually made things worse because she started waking ever 1-2 hours all night. So I gave her more thinking she was in more pain. I decided to try giving her nothing and the last three nights she's slept great, only getting up once or twice. Could she have an allergy to the camomile? Could it be making her not sleep? Thanks for any info!
Sounds like it's worth not giving it to her and seeing how she does. Do you and/or dh have hayfever or pollen allergies? Evidently chamomile is related to ragweed and can trigger allergic reactions in people sensitive to ragweed, etc. If so, don't give her echinacea either - same family.
I also wonder whether she could have developed a sensitivity to it from getting it every night.
I hope that getting rid of the chamomile does the trick!
I read in a homeopathy book (Miranda Castro) that chamomile can have the opposite effect of what is intended. It has to do with homeopathy principals. Chamomile is given as a homeopathic remedy to help sleep; giving too much of the herb itself can actually cause the inability to sleep. Sounds like this is what's happening for your little one.
Yes,it probably had a paradoxic effect. My dd is the same way even at 5yo.
