I brought my kids to the dentist today and apparently DD (almost 4) has grooves in her molars. The dentist wants to seal them. She got very hissy with me when I asked what the sealant is made of, and told her that I want to research it first. I told her that dentists used to recommend mercury for fillings and look at how great that turned out... Anyway, she said that it is made of resin, a type of plastic. Having plastic mounted to DD's teeth freaks me out a little. I tried to google it but didn't find anything about side effects. But then again, I don't want her to get cavities. Any thoughts?

IDK....about any issues with the sealant but I had all of my molars sealed as a child because of deep grooves and I've never had cavities nor issues associated with the sealant itself and it's been 20 years.

Blessed with two BEAUTIFUL little girls: Kylie (09/06) and Maggie (4/09) :

Sealants are made with BPA plastic. I've refused them for DS.
