ayurvedically speaking, here are a few of the best oils per doshic imbalance:

vata ~ sesame oil

pitta ~ sunflower oil or coconut oil

kapha ~ safflower oil

Okay, so I'm new here [hello!] and this thread has been dormant for nearly a year.

I heard of OP 2 years ago but I never really got into it as it made me gag after 1 minute. I gave up too soon. I've since been pregnant and am still breast feeding my 13 month old. Started again this morning with coconut oil, did 2 minutes, almost puked, rinsed with water and started again and did 3 minutes. I hate to admit it publicly but I forgot to brush my teeth  and my breath is not bad at all and my teeth feel nice and clean. This is definitely something. Will do it again this evening and brush and rinse with salt water as recommended and increase the time till I can continuously do 10 minutes or so. I think 5 was great, so will not be disappointed with that.

Now, I wonder if I could convince my DH to give it a try/ He smokes and could do with detox pathways opening up for a good, gentle cleanse....

This thread is so awesome. Oh wow. I had no idea this was an actual concept! I eat a tea spoon of coconut oil after brushing my teeth and just let it dissolve and swish it around then spit it out. I started doing it because I've heard coconut oil is antifungal and my tongue turned orange about two months ago and I am assuming it is a yeast of some sort. I guess I will give sesame oil a try and keep it in for longer!

be good family...

It is absolutely fine and safe to OP even while you are nursing.
