would a broken tooth with no pain or discomfort be a dental emergency? - Mothering Forums

DS has a tooth that probably needs a root canal and is decaying from under a previous filling. last night he said his tooth felt funny. sure enough the inner back side is breaking away. he says it doesn't hurt and has strict instructions to no chew on that side of his mouth. i just called his dentist. they're closed today but i can call the emergency line. my dentist is also closed. would you considered this an emergency?

I wouldn't consider it an emergency unless it was aching.

Mine fell apart (less than half left) with an exposed nerve. That was 2.5 years ago, it started bugging early in this pregnancy so I went in to get it checked. They want to pull it but I'm going to wait until after the pregnancy (when my dental benefits kick in). It's not hurting anymore so it's fine.

what-in-the? i have no idea how this got here. i thought i posted it in H&H.

thanks for the reply. it's not bothering him at all. i'll get him in as soon as the dentist can take us. hopefully he won't make it worse over the weekend.
