I used to do oil pulling, until I heard that it could loosen fillings, but have considered doing it again. If it does loosen some of the fillings, it would be a great way to lose some silver, kwim? Then I would be able to get them refilled with composite filling. But, I already have some composite fillings and don't want to loose them. Does oil pulling affect only silver fillings or does it loosen the composite fillings, too?

Bumping, because I really feel that oil pulling will help and I also want to get rid of those silver fillings...and not loose the composites.

I decided against doing it while having amalgam fillings- I certainly don't want it pulling mercury out. I read mixed opinions of whether it loosened fillings or only pulled some mercury out. Either way, I think it would be really bad. No matter how well I rinsed afterward some mercury might be absorbed/swallowed/vapors inhaled. This is just my opinion though. I can't find a lot of good facts about oil pulling.

I will eventually have my amalgam fillings removed by my dentist with all the necessary safety measures to minimize my exposure.

I tried oil pulling for the first time 2 days ago and today I lost a small filling on the side of my molar. I don't know if the oil pulling caused it but I was wondering about it. Then I came here and saw your question and really went hmmmm?
