I just realized that my son, 16 months old, has chipped a huge chunk off one of his top teeth. (The 2nd one to the left from the middle) He already has some tooth decay on his teeth, and this tooth was probably the worst one. What will a dentist do if I take him in to the dentist?? We've already been given the option to put him under general anestesia to get the decay fixed, and we decided not to. Will they not be able to do anything unless he's sleeping? The tooth is quite sharp now, so I don't want him to bite his lip or anything. What should I do??

The white and splotchy on the front of her tooth could be the start of tooth decay. I would get it checked. That's usually how it starts. (That's how it started with my son, however I didn't think anything of it, and didn't get it checked, now 3 months later, his teeth are very decayed.) It can be reversed at that point, but if you wait too long it's not as easy to reverse it. Just thought I would let you know. I would have wanted to know! :)

the dentist said it was demineralization. which happens before the cavity. i have been giving her cell salts several tiimes a day for the last 3 days and already they look better. less splotchy and more of all the same color. :)

I agree that cell salts (particularly calc fluor) are a huge help.  Since we've started using them aggressively, I can see the decay reversing on one of DS's teeth (the one that's not as far gone as the others).

I'm glad that it was caught at that stage then :)

Just to update everyone, I've made a dentist appt for Apr 11 to see what he says about the chipped tooth. I'm afraid he's going to want to just pull it, the tooth looks pretty bad. But I'll update you after the appt.

Calc fluor 6x is the most important.  We give DS 2 tabs 4-6 times a day, depending on what we're doing/if we're home a lot.  They dissolve really fast in water so he drinks them up in a small glass quickly.  He doesn't even know they're in there.  I bought the Hyland's brand off of vitacost.com, but a lot of people here buy them from 1800homeopathy.com.

i bought the bioplasma one from hyland's. they are a combo of all 12 salts. i give 2 of them 3 or 4 times a day. i just give them to her, she loves them. i found them locally at a whole health store. they didnt have any calc fluor in but i plan on getting them and calc sulph i think. there is a cell salts thread around here somehwere.

Just wanted to update you on my sons teeth. The top 2 teeth beside the 2 front teeth are pretty far gone. Due to the weakness of the teeth, the one on the left is pretty much all chipped away. Just a little nub left. We went to the dentist and he said we can leave the tooth because the nerve is still protected. He also said the tooth on the right of the top 2 front teeth is well on its way to chipping the same. As long as the nerve doesn't show up, we have an appt to just clean and fill the teeth 6 months from now, using nothing but laughing gas. They will never be normal teeth, we are basically just filling them so the nerve is protected. He also said that if the nerve shows up my son will be in immense pain and the tooth will have to be pulled so there isn't any damage to the nerve and to prevent damage to his future teeth. Praying that doesn't happen! My son's top 2 teeth are doing okay in comparison to the ones beside them. So I'm confident we'll be able to fill them and he will be able to keep those. I'm still doing regular brushing as well as flouride on the teeth twice a day, and "Dental Essentials" once a day along with his multivitamin. Hopefully this 6 months goes by fast so we can get them fixed once and for all.
