My friend has a lot going on and without thinking she got an amalgam replaced with a white filling today. She is still nursing her 6 months old and planned to continue a while longer. She said she freaked out as soon as she realized what she had done. She's thinking she needs to wean her baby right away. Does anyone have any idea if pumping and dumping would be an option? or how long the metal might contaminate her milk? Any thoughts or suggestions??

call the infant risk line.

(806)-352-2519. they will let you know if it is ok to breastfeed.

I personally think it is and that she should continue to breastfeed.

Thank you for that number.  The doctor felt the same way  - to continue nursing. Thanks for the response.
