Does any one in SoCal have a dentist who does not do routine annual dental X-rays?

I have used the same dental practice for the last 30 yrs. The first dentist retired and sold it to the next dentist. I have always had a contentious concern about ROUTINE dental x-rays. As I understand X-rays, there should be a reason to do the X-ray, a concern, not an X-ray every year, just because we do that every year to everyone who comes here because that is the way it is. I have discussed this with the dentist and the dental hygenist; apparently, it is the "standard of care". I can remember lots of things over the years that were standard of care and were dangerous - prenatal X-rays for one.

For the record, whenever there has been a problem with my teeth, I always knew about it before the dentist found it; once, I knew I broke a tooth, but the X-ray did not find it, the cold air, and water did not either, but I had a root canal ready and waiting in that tooth at the next visit, so I was right, I did break the tooth. There are  thyroid problems and cancer in my family and I do not care to have X-rays zapped on me routinely, just because... everyone does it. I have written and mailed a certified letter expressing my concerns, and it disappeared from my file. I had a copy to give them to replace it, but I do not know what happened to that letter. When I discussed my concerns directly with the dentist, he did not seem to understand why I was concerned.

I am 63, have my own teeth including wisdom teeth.
