I've recently noticed that along the gumline of several of my teeth there are little grooves, like the enamel is worn away. Some of them just feel rough but others are kind of sensitive and it's really unpleasant to touch (of course I keep doing it anyway). Any ideas what that might be or problems it may point/lead to? Please don't say cavities

Do you brush too hard? I do and my gums are getting worn away. I'm so disgusted by that! The pain is because the roots are exposed (its like a little sponge) and things that trigger the nerves - cold, sweet, sour - can get to the roots.

Try: brushing down on your gums, not brushing so long/hard (get a soft bristle brush), stay away from acidic foods (or rinse with water afterwards) and upping your minerals (to fill in the sponge) - esp. calcium.

Oh yeah, and there is surgery to fix this. They take skin off the inside of your lip and graft it to your gums. How gross is that!?!?!?

Okay, I DEFINITELY don't want that procedure done I'll try to be more gentle and loving to my gums. I probably am brushing too hard as it seems like my teeth feel less clean these days, even after brushing.
