I bath or shower with my 18 month old every day, and on a regular basis will hop in when both kids (18 months and 3 years) are in there together, out of convenience. I like to have showers alone.. but I do it with the kids because I don't really have any other chance to, and it's fun and cute too.

Another vote for shared bathing! I shower with DS almost every night. It's part of his nighttime routine and he doesn't sleep as well those nights that we skip it. I also used to bathe with DD, but don't remember when we stopped. No big deal.

We do it here too, both me and DH... whoever DS can convince. (He has exzema and frequent baths/showers are hard on his skin, but he LOVES them.)

Both DH and I bathe and shower with our kids regularly. I don't think it is nasty at all. I think it is sad that your friend doesn't let herself enjoy such a simple thing like bathing with your kids. Enjoy this time with them.

Save water. Shower with a friend (or kiddo).

DH, DS, DD and I routinely shower/bathe in some combination.

I have occasionally but our tub is not really big enough now they both want to move around. There is hardly enough room when I try to bath alone I came from a family where boobs were always hanging out (4 girls including my mom), except when dad was home. I can't think of a better way to set a good example of being comfortable with your body.

It is absolutely impossible for me to have a bath by myself around here. At least one kids always climbs in with me. I always bathed with them from birth. Now they are 3 and 6 (my oldest is 14 and would scream if I even mentioned that he always used to bathe with me when he was 5) and they often take baths on their own, but I still never can.

I have to. My husband isn't home a lot and if I bathe my 2 (almost 3) year old by herself when am I going to get to shower? I can't just lock her out of the bathroom and let her destroy the house or cry and scream at the bathroom door. so we do a shower/bath combo (she can put the stopper in and take it out herself). When he is home I like to leave her with him so I can get some peace (she is at that stage where everything is HERS, ALL the water, my conditioner, my comb, everything).

No, you are not the only one! Sorry that you got such a weird reaction. To me, it seems perfectly natural and very safe (plus, it saves time!) to bath with little ones. DD has always bathed with us in either the bath or shower. We never even used a baby tub. I grew up bathing the same way...

We are in the process of buying our first home...the master bath has a huge tub and gigantic shower with multiple shower heads...perfect for family bathing...

its the only way i get my 14 month old clean, either that or a quick dip in teh sink, i can not bend over the bath, i end up in a lot of pain. with the older ones i dont need to bend over as they can stand up fo rme to wash em down, do hair, tho as soon as DS2 hears the water he is stiripping off, and trying to climb in, wheather im in it or not, regardless of temp!!

Occasionally, I will shut our bedroom door and let her have reign of DH and my bedroom, there is no door on the master bath right now so I can keep an eye on them (DD2 will usually go in the exercauser when I do this) and they can feel close to me, not like I'm shutting them out. We only have a shower in there. I'm hoping DD1 will get over her water on her head fear and join me eventually it would make my life easier.

I am sorry your friend made you feel bad about this! I bathe with my kiddos all the time and I don't think it is nasty at all! It is perfectly natural...what did people do before there were bathrooms or enough water to bathe separatly?? Perfectly natural!! hugs

What a bizzare thing for your friend to fixate on. I mean, I get it if she doesn't want to bathe with her kids but who cares if other people do? I used to bathe with my daughter all the time and still do occasionally but she prefers I stay out so she has more room for toys most of the time now.
My husband used to bathe with her but about a year ago she became intensely curious about his male bits and he quit bathing with her then. It was making him uncomfortable and I strongly believe that if anyone is uncomfortable with the nudity it should be stopped right away.

Hey, I always shower with my DS (he's 2.5) and bathe with him when possible. And if they pee in the tub...so what...that's why it's hot... Plus it's fun.

I bathe with both girls (almost six and almost one) but dh doesn't, he's not comfortable doing so. He will however, give them baths together.

I wish I could do this more often with my DS, but I like my baths HOT HOT HOT so we don't. Also, DS screams when I take him in the shower with me, I think he dislikes the spray on his face. So family bathing doesn't happen as often as I'd like. We recently went on vacation and there was a really nice tub so I hopped in with him, but I was freezing within a couple of minutes. Brrr!

Dh gives the nightly bath, but each Saturday I take a bath with both girls---it's our special time and we add lots of witchy herbal-y ingrediants. I once found dh in the bath with dd1----he'd kept his underwear on

I bathed with both kids until dd was around 2, now they bath together. There isn't enough room for all of us now.

I agree the pee doesnt' bother me, but the poop, now that is another thing entirely. I don't think I have ever gotten out of the tub so fast.:

OP, Aren't your kids young children? What on earth could be weird or gross about bathing with your kids?! My sis & I bathed with my mom until we were quite older (probably 8 or so?) and I bath with my son (19 months) and he also takes showers with Daddy. I won't bathe with him forever, but at a young age, come on!

Were a big bunch of co-bathers, mom and dad with the kids. Most times when an older child is bathing in our house. I tell them take a LO which usually is not nessecary. Since they here water running and begin to undress and jump in:

DH does bathtime nearly every night. He goes right in with both of them. I've always found it a huge pain to try to lean over the tub to wash my kids; if I'm bathing I get in there.
