I think I remember having this problem last year too. Why can't I find any toddler sweaters? All I seem to find are fleece and hoodies. I just want a couple of warm sweaters for my DS when he's outside playing at DC this fall.

I've looked at quite a few online stores

Anyone?

I picked up some used ones on ebay. No clue where they got them!

Hanna Andersson has some--decent selection but a little pricey. They seem to have added some recently so check back if you haven't been on there in a while.

I buy 'em though b/c they are the only ones I can find and my toddler is also very large for her age and hard to fit.

Gymboree will usually do 1 or 2 sweaters too. Maybe it's a little early in the season yet for heavy winter wear?

Wouldn't it be great if Target did a basic V-neck sweater?

YES!!! I feel the same way, but for my whole family! Last year I was so frustrated that I couldn't find something for ME! I need something soon..... Just something light, not fleece, not hoodie, ugh.... And the kids too. We don't really need big jackets down here, but man, I need a sweater! Last week at church I was FREEZING!!!!! I'm on the hunt now officially!

childrens place, and you can usually find a stripe or even plain! They aren't cheap ($16-17) but they will last and are really nice.
cherokee brand also sometimes has some, as well as polo brand.

Gymboree frequently has sweaters of all types including over the head, zip up hoodie sweaters, and cardigans. Their collections are seasonal though so you might need to check back.

The Children's Place had lots of sweaters last late fall/winter...and I think Old Navy and Gap had some nice ones, too. It's a tad early (beginning September) to expect to find many sweaters in stock, in my experience. But I got 4 nice ones at Children's Place last year. Depending on how much you want to spend, janie & Jack usually have some cute ones, too. Zulilly just had a bunch of Mulberry brand sweaters on sale, too.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to check out those places though I thought I did check TCP and Gymboree. Maybe it is a bit early.

Now to start another thread on shoes

Another vote for Gymboree... they have lots of cardigans too which I like for layering and ease of getting on and off.

I've always had luck at thrift stores,(farmer's) markets, and craft fairs.

I've found beautiful handknit, real wool sweaters for cheap, and they last forever.
