We had Leah's birthday celebration the Sunday before her birthday. She is 20 lbs now. She's walking, half running after the older kids and climbing up on the couch, toddler chairs, step stools. I am going to have to buy her a small little slide she can climb and won't hurt if she falls off. She's had her bottom 2 teeth for a while. But she's been teething her top 4 teeth at once for a month now and finally broke through with 1 of them the other day. She LOVES stuffed animals. Its so cute. I can't believe its been a year!! Wow! And I'm due with another one this Friday!

Well this appears to be what happened. I'm in shock and due in june. 1st test i took was -, but then after both dh & i were experiencing pg symptoms, we tested on our 4 yr wedding anniv. & got the bfp. I am a little worried b/c i have experienced some bleeding, but i just saw my midwife and she said it looks good (i have also had many beta level checks that all look good).

vlad
had his 1st b-day this past sunday. He's 23.5 lbs & 28". We had about 20 friends & family over for lunch. Ds skipped his am nap, refused his cake, split his lip on a fall in his tired state, & ended up taking a nap before anyone left. Everyone eventually left and we opened his gifts. He still doesn't want any of the pumpkin cake dh made him. He called the shots. Overall it was a fun get together.
congrats!!!!

Wow!

Kara's B-day party in the park went well, we had carrot cake and pizza, balloons, and swinging. Kara got a purse of her own and walked around with it on her shoulder for the rest of the day. It was just family and one friend. All the grandparents were there.

I can't believe I got pregnant with Kara right after Caden's first b-day. There's no way I'm ready to be pregnant again now!

I haven't given up completely on having another baby, but I'm also seriously thinking we might be done. I don't think having more kids would enrich our lives anymore at this point, we are rich enough!

Happy B-day to all the October babies and mamas!

You know, we weren't planning on having this baby at all. After Leah was born a year ago, we were talking about being done. I had to wean baby girl onto formula around January because I was having surgery and I got pregnant in February. At the time of my surgery. Lol. So even though it wasn't wanted at the time, we are looking forward to it now and can't wait for this baby to be born! (40 wks tomorrow-Friday). Even if we did want another one, I would not plan it so close together. I would want to heal first. Lol.

Thank you. Yeah, I was going with the assumption that an allergy could lead to slow weight gain. I just wish I could get him to eat! He eats like 5 bites of something and that's it. We're still workin on it. It's hard to eat egg free! But he does seem to be feline little better so it's all worth it. Hope the testi goes well and you get some answers!

I can't find the confession thread right now, so I thought I'd post it here. ... Persephone hasn't had her birthday party yet. I had the intention of doing a Halloween type party, but as her birthday approached I got more and more depressed about the lack of support we have. When I realized that most of the people coming to said party would by my oldest dd's friends.. for some reason it was like a knife to my chest. Another birthday for another one of my kiddos gone by unnoticed by people. The only ones to acknowledge PJ was my inlaws who live in another state. We have family in the town, family close by.. but they're the type of family that don't contact you except one a year, and thats just a few. The rest don't care to contact us at all.

Celebrations without others to celebrate with is hard. You know what I mean?

I don't mean to whine. I just needed some other mommys to listen. I feel like such a heel for not doing anything yet. I mean I took pictures of her on her birthday, but we didn't have a cake or presents or celebrate really. My other kids are wondering why and I don't even have a reason. Its hard for me to celebrate when no one is going to come. Its the same way I felt about all my baby showers. Just disappointed that I got excited about it at all.

Happy Birthday to all the babes that have celebrated already, and to those that are yet to. I think the bittersweetness of the 1st birthday combined with no support network and no family... just leads to depression.

I'm sorry you don't have anyone near who could celebrate with you. Is there something special you could do just with you and the children that would be fun and maybe a little silly, something that could be your birthday tradition just for yourselves?

I can't believe Ashton is a toddler. The transition was more difficult than i expected. Probably because I have never been around a toddler but its much easier now that i know every one else's little ones are doing the same stuff! MDC is wonderful like that.

Ashton at 1 year (10/23/10) was 25lbs and 29 inches. He just started walking and is just so much fun...dancing and making funny sounds, and he eats alot too! He nurses a bunch at nite and tosses around and some days i am just soooo exhausted, but i am hanging in there.

I don't remember if i posted to the ddc about my mastitis but in case i did...i have had it 21 times so far but now it has tappered down to once every two months. The only things that may have helped me were high potency phytolacca and cabbage and sage tea. Mostly i just got used to it. Ive been to lots of specialists and no one understands why i get it, i just do. So i was very happy that i have been nursing for more than a year...in the beggining it seemed soo far away.

Also, i know what you mean about lacking supportive family. fwiw, i dont want my inlaws to be hanging around. while they seem mildly interested in ashtons life which is nice because they live close...they think that every baby is out to make them look dumb so they treat him poorly and i really have to protect ashton from their tone....they say stuff like "oh now you think im going to look like an idiot and keep picking up that toy you toss on the ground, no way you little twerp." they say it so negative...and always think he is trying to control us and he needs to cry...yadda yadda.......they are not supportive of our parenting beliefs even tho we have voiced this to them before...My mom is great but she lives accross the country...some days are Hard! Lots of people are in your boat. sometimes we have to make our own loving community with supportive folks!

sorry so long, i haven't posted in a while. Thanks for all the updates! Its so nice to read about all the babies =)

I finally posted my Oct09 baby's birthday pictures. I wanted to share:
http://thisblessedlife-aubrey.blogsp...turns-one.html

He's 25lbs, healthy, adorable, cuddly & hilarious.

VTtoPSUmama, I'm curious if you ever tried taking lecithin? I too suffered with chronic mastitis after a few of my babies, it was horrible. But then I found taking huge doses of lecithin saved me! (or maybe we've already talked about this & I'm a space brain.... forgive me if I'm repeating myself...)

Nature, we had our baby's birthday party entirely for the benefit of my older kids. We didn't do presents or make any kind of big deal out of it. The baby didn't care one way or the other, but my big kids know that birthdays mean cake & balloons & fun, so we did it for them.

southernmommie, I can't wait to hear your birth announcement!!!

Hi everyone. I had our newest baby Oct. 31st!!!! Woohoo!! We're having such a hard latching problem that the LLL lactation consultant thinks its tongue tie. So we have an appt with our hospital's ONLY peds that deals with tongue tie in an hour!!! And, my DH's command (military here) called and canceled the remainder of his baby leave and is flying him out to the boat. Was suppose to leave today, but no flights for him. So maybe tomorrow. No family nearby. I luckily have really nice neighbors and we all get along great. So far, Leah is doing great with the baby. She's only 1 so doesn't really pay much attention to the baby. She's too busy exploring and playing with the older kids.

Anyway, enough sad stuff. I love reading about all the babies and how far they have all come along!
My DS is also "too small." (in that picture, his legs look skinnier than they really are) He's in the middle for height and head circumference, but less than 1% for weight. I can't get any more solid food or breastmilk in him than he's willing to eat. He's very sure of when he's hungry and when he's not. He won't budge. So I try to give him lots of healthy fats.
Now I'm wondering if he could have an allergy?

I also haven't had AF come back yet. I got pregnant before she came back after DD (DD was 17mo), so it's been four years!

Hi everybody -- I love reading all our updates about our babies. Congrats to those who have had or will have another one soon. You are brave, brave women. I celebrated nearly-1-year by getting an IUD placed.

DS turned 1 on 10/24, but we had to cancel his party because everyone was sick. It's supposed to be tomorrow now. DD keeps bugging me about it because she is under the impression that he can't ACTUALLY be 1 until he has his party.

At 1 year, he was 22.14lb and 30.5" tall. He only gained 14oz between 9-12 months but 1".

Nature -- we are only having one baby at our party, and mostly because her mom is one of my oldest friends. The other kids are all DD's age. We invited 2 other babies Tristan's age but they couldn't come on this weekend. If we didn't have my family locally it wouldn't be worth having a party. I've found that it's really HARD to meet people with babies when you have older kids as well, because all the playdates are either during DD's naptime or scheduled to conflict with preschool pickup or whatever.

Oooh sorry. Baby Aidan (boy) was born weighing 8 lbs. 2 oz. He was 20.5" long. We went to an LLL mtg and they suggested he might have tongue tie. Called and they had an opening yesterday so I grabbed it. The next one wasn't open until the 16th! He did have tongue tie. It was posterior at 6%. We are doing so much better now! But now I have an infected tooth that is swollen and HURTS. The dentist told me what to take and to call again on Monday.

Congrats, Southernmommie!!! Glad the latch is getting better now.

I woke up to my period today. It's a welcome surprise. I've been struggling with some mood issues, so I'm hoping that it helps to have my cycles back. I never thought I'd go 22 months without a period!

I haven't had mine PPAF, either. It took 11.5 months after DD, and it's been 12.5 now.

congrat's southernmommie!

vlad has been growing up so much lately. he has been announcing he has to "poo" and we only used 2 diapers all day yesterday. we have been ecing with him since he was 3 months. we don't push it, just offer it throughout the day. maybe i don't need to fear 2 lo's in diapers? we met our HBAC midwife and heard the baby's heartbeat. crazy! it's all becoming real now.
