DD has a terrible diaper rash. We havent switched detergents, her diet hasnt changed, and she isnt really consuming any more liquid than normal. Normally, our remedy for diaper rash is to be diaper free. Well, in the past two hours she peed floor 4 times (big puddles, not just a little bit) and has completely saturated 6 prefolds. Thats as much as she usually uses in one day!

What is going on?

Not sure about the excessive peeing but maybe talk to a doc. As far as the rash goes I'd cut out citrus or anything acidic until it subsides.

good luck. :)

Maybe a yeast infection / thrush? That can cause a rash and frequent urination.

Definitely talk with a  pediatrician.  That much urine output is more than you would expect to see, and can definitely be a red flag for a couple problems- including type 1 diabetes.

Thanks everyone. DD is still peeing a ridiculous amount each day. We are going tomorrow to have her tested for type 1 diabetes. Im glad you mentioned that, insidevoice.

I was thinking diabetes or food allergy.  Most docs won't pick it up as a food allergy, though.  If the bloodwork doesn't pick up diabetes, feel free to pm me about food irritants.  I had this problem personally.  Took a complete accident to find after countless tests and an invasive procedure.  I was peeing enough to be making daily life really inconvenient.  :/
