My daughter is 20 months old and will now, thankfully, wear a hat when we're outside and it's obviously cold.  But those fingers just get so red and chilly (and it's not even winter yet!) but mittens just come flying right off.  I thought gloves would be better for her because she likes to pick things up and touch things on a walk, but no to those as well.  Any tricks, advice, products, etc. you would recommend?

Wool socks stay on better than mittens (the long cuff!)
