Hi mamas,
I'm not sure if my DD is officially a toddler, but she is walking, so I guess I should post here?!
DD is 13 months old, breastfed and eats a ton of table foods. I've never seen a baby eat as much as she does!
She wakes up frequently at night and I am just at my breaking point with not having slept decently for an entire year. I am ready to night wean her, but I want to do it gently and I am also a bit confused on how to get her those calories during the day that she's getting at night since she already eats a lot.
She goes to bed in her crib and usually sleeps about 4-5 hours and then I bring her in bed with us but she wakes like every 2-3 hours after that and some nights it seems like every hour. I am so tired that I never know what time it is nor have the energy to check the clock. And every morning I think, "I can't do this another night, I am so utterly exhausted." But I am so tired and spacey that I can't even come up with a plan!
A friend said that she slowly night weaned her LO and had her husband give bottles of cow's milk at night for about 4-5 nights and then slowly weaned off of that and did the whole back patting thing and after a week or two it worked. I was thinking that this might be a good way to see if she is actually really hungry or just waking out of habit.
The other piece of this puzzle is that my LO is tiny, despite her big appetite. But I am really petite too, so it's normal for our family. So, I obviously don't want to cut her overall calories - I'm just looking to shift them to daytime, but am confused about how to best do that.
Sorry I'm rambling. Any suggestions, ideas, things that have worked for you? TIA!
