15 month old not walking yet

My toddler of 15 months(4 July 2013) does not walk yet. She cruises against the furniture and will walk fine when you hold her hand, but she would not walk on her own. Must we be concerned and what can we do to help her?

Thanks!

How is she doing on all her other milestones?

15 months isn't terribly late, and she sounds close. If all her other milestones are coming along nicely, I wouldn't worry, but just continue to provide opportunities and encouragement.

but everything has pros and cons  shrug.gif

My first walked at 10 months. My second at 16. First never cruised. He just fell a lot. Second is much more careful. He finally started walking for watermelon. I think he just stopped over-thinking it and went for the bait leading with his face. Cruiser still loves to push anything with wheels or furniture just like before walking. Oh by the way second is just way more mellow and much easier to parent. Don't over think it. Still well within normal.

Just wanted to chime in that my very athletic, agile and coordinated now 7 year old and my just turned 4 year old ( who was riding a two wheeler at 3) did not walk until 18 months and 17 months. They got around just fine cruising and I took it as a gift. Early, walkers are hard. By the time they walked they were much safer and more cognitively aware.
They met all other milestones etc. I think they each do things in their own time.
I think just enjoy the cruising!
they walk for a long time.....

Oh my yes! If she is doing all that communicating, no wonder she isn't walking!! My DD was 15 months when she started talking, but crawled at 6.5 months, cruised at 7 mo & walked at 10. I second everyone else above, I'm sure she's fine. Enjoy the solace of not chasing your toddler-yet!
