We have a 21 month old son and I am 33 weeks pregnant. We haven't told ds yet because I wanted to wait. Now I feel it's getting almost too late and we need to tell/prepare him. We got an idea from these boards on a cool way to tell but I am still feeling like holding back. I don't know what the problem is. I might be worried that he won't feel special ( or that I won't think he's my only special one??) or that he won't understand anyway. I don't know. I think it's just my fear of the big change that is going to happen in our family dynamics. We want to make this as smooth and as joyful as we can. He is going to be at the birth (if he wants) and I plan on tandem nursing. Has anyone else had reservations about telling their dc? How have you told and involved your dc about the upcoming change? Thanks for your input.

I think it can be very hard introducing the idea of a new baby to a toddler. You don't want them to feel like they're being replaced and at this young age it is hard fro them to understand the concept of sharing mommy. So I can understand how you would feel reluctant to tell him.

I'm going to move this to the toddler forum to see if the mommies there have any ideas for you.
