I've had long hair for several years now and ready to chop them off. I'm just concerned how dd would react?? She's 18 mths now, and had always seen me with long hair. She also touches or pulls my hair sometimes when she's nursing. Will my hair-cut be traumatic for her?? I'm not going to do radical stuff like dye a new color, etc, just cut it short. Can I do that without causing too much alarm???

I cut my really long hair off when my eldest was 2. Don't remember if she cried. They know your smell and voice also. Maybe a few days before the chop, tie it back alot then you'll look short haired. Good luck, it's a big thing. I hadn't grown mine back but have been trying for 6 years but always give up and chop it off again.

My sister got a perm when her son was 2 1/2. She left in the afternoon. When she got home he was napping. When he woke up and she went up to get him he freaked out! "where's my mommy-what did you do to my mommy". She was so upset! However to this day she still not sure if it was the perm or just the fact he was sleepy and thought she was the babysitter. After that though she never did anything to her hair without telling her son in advance!

Pardon me while I puke.gif

hmph..... would it help to bring her along to the hair-cut? I get my hair cut, while dh stays with her.
Is there a storybook on this topic? She had been reading "Sam's Potty" and seems to relate well to the potty now!!
