That's my favorite Wiggles song. We song it all the time around here when son is sleeping. I think we're kidding and being silly. Sort of.

WOW! This is great! We also love the "They Might Be Giants" too (especially "No!). I've also found that DS loves what I call, "The Big Bobs"- Bob Dylan and Bob Marley. Wouldn't it be cool if he busted out with "The times, they are a' changin'..." in preschool?

I should add that we actually don't listen to much "kid" music . . . we have two Rosenshontz CDs as I mentioned above. But otherwise my 3yo (and 16mo!!) LOVES Queen Latifah's jazz CD (The Dana Owen's Album--it's fabulous) (he'll come to me and say "Latifah? Latifah?" when he wants me to play it . . . and sings along!!). He's also a fan of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Hootie and the Blowfish, and soundtracks from various Disney flicks (some he's seen, some he hasn't). Anything that has a good beat, that you can dance to or is fun to sing . . . they like that.

Neither kids know regular kids' songs like "The wheels on the bus" because we don't sing them (they're just not very interesting songs to me). Instead, we sing to them and they sing along to "Hernando's Hideaway," "The Witch Doctor" (oo-ee-oo-ah-ah-ting-tang-walla-walla-bing-bang . . . which is way cute coming out of a 3yo), and some Mary Poppins' songs at the moment.

I'm actually not a fan of the Wiggles' songs. They just aren't very interesting to me. The Rosenshontz songs are so much better--much more creative and cute.

Jen, mom of R (9), T (7), C (5), and E (2) ... my stillheart.gifs

my babies all grooved on Jimmy Buffett, Bobby Darrin, Dean Martin and The Beatles. They all have fun, catchy, singable tunes toddlers seem to dig.

I think it really depends on your own taste, what you buy for your toddler & listen to. I dislike Raffi & Laurie Berkner, & I just cant take the wiggles : not my style.
I love
Lisa Loeb: catch the moon
Dan zanes
Ralphs world
Sesame street (depends on the cd, there's a bathtime one that's great)
The sound of music soundtrack
Music Together cds
Woody Guthrie

I also play a lot of "adult" music for ds, lots of blue grass, guitar etc.

Daffodil

These music samples had my DS dancing around the room. I can't wait to get these new cd's and switch out the wiggles from the player .

We love listening to Laurie Berkner and Dan Zanes. They are kind of folky, I guess. I love the themes of both. Thank god my daughter is over the wiggles. I catch my self singing these Laurie B songs all day and I am actually ok with it.

I like Dan Zanes and Laurie B., but they're voices get on my nerves after awhile. I'll second Ralph's World, whoever said that.
My son like some of our "regular" music with my husband, but a lot of the time I think it's the singing along they do together that is the appeal, rather than the music itself.

Our DS digs all the standard nursery songs, but there are some other CDs he loves, too:
Maria Muldaur has a fabulous swing album for kids called Swingin' in the Rain.
I don't know who produced it, but another fave of DS's is a CD called World Party.
The Roches (Maggie and Suzzy Roche) have a fun album for kids called Will You Be My Friend?
Any bluegrass, cajun, or zydeco CD (DS calls them all "hillbilly music.")
Any peppy big band CD

Christine , wife of Ron , mama to Tony (4-25-03) and Maria (3-19-06) :

I'm sure someone has already posted this but LAURIE BERKNER!! She rocks! She reminds me of the Indigo girls and Sheryl Crow. Lots of guitar and great beats. Plus some of the songs are really silly/cute!
