Hi Everyone! Doing a quick drive by post to say thanks to IRL friend Doreen for letting you guys know. And also to give you the quick details.

William was born on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 4:16pm after about 13 hours of labor. It was a very successful VBAC!!!! With the exception of telemetry monitoring and a Heparin lock (both of which I agreed to ahead of time), and a needed bag of fluids (I was fairly dehydrated by the time we got to the hospital due to vomiting), I had no other interventions -- no drugs, no aminiotomy, no episiotomy, no tearing, etc. I do have some skid marks and bruising, but nothing awful. My favorite midwife caught, and my doula and dh were awesome. I couldn't have done it without any of them.

William was 8 lbs., 1 oz. and 21.5" long -- a full 1 lb., 1oz. heavier and 2" longer than Henry, with the same sized head. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and we have no idea who he looks like (other than himself). He's a champion nurser. He did great throughout labor until the very end when he aspirated quite a bit of meconium and had some slightly sticky shoulders. But he's beautiful and healthy and we're happily home and settling in. Henry's not quite sure what to make of him, but seems okay with the changes so far (and did really well in my absence).

I hope to post a more detailed birth story and pictures when I have a few moments. William will be waking any moment to nurse so I should get ready for bed while I have the chance. I thought Henry could nurse for long stretches -- he's got nothing on this kid!

I'm getting our family's website updated, where you won't need an account to sign in. In the meantime, I've posted pictures at Snapfish.

Gotta run for now!

Lol I wish! It'll probably be a few more years before that happens. But when it does, I'm determined to have a VBAC or HBAC.

Oh Wow Christy, are you guys having a house built? Sorry, I haven't been reading much lately. What will the house be like? Is it being custom built?

Sage is so adorable! I love her hair colour.

yeah, we bought 3 acres and a manufactured house. Its a 3 bed/2bath with a big living room and kitchen. Hopefully they started the foundation today, if not then hopefully next week. The house can be delivered/put on the foundation as soon as the foundation is set. then we have to wait for septic/well systems, get hooked to the electric grid, and get our propane tank installed/filled. We're very excited, lol.

They already have the house built offsite? That's so neat. Did you choose to have a septic system or are there no sewage pipes near there? What do you need a propane tank for?

star, the house is basically a doublewide trailer, but its not *really* a trailer, its a pre-fabricated house...or so they say, lol. they are usually set up in lots, like car lots, and you can go thru like 10 at a time and pick the one you want. if you dont want the exact one they have there, you can order one with your choice of colors, carpet, siding, shingle, etc.

We are building in what used to be a corn field in a very rural area, so there is no sewer/water lines and no natural gas lines. We have to dig a well and have the septic tank installed, and we went w/ propane b/c it is cheaper to heat and cook with than electricity. (we hope to someday get some solar panels installed to help w/ electricity costs).

Are you still living w/ your mom??? check this out:
http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/
these are the guys helping us w/ financing the house and land. they help low-income families buy or build homes in rural areas, with no/bad/little/good credit. and they base your monthly house payment and interest on your income instead of how traditional mortgages are done. if you lose your job, they will put a hold on your house payment for up to 2 years, so you will not lose your house.

I posted about this in TAO and ended up turning several mommas there on to this program, and they are in the process of getting a house, when they thought they couldn't get one, or had been turned down by a bank.

Picking out a house like that.. that's so cool! We don't have trailers like that up here in Canada (not anywhere that I've heard of/seen), so it's still different to me. I never even clued in that it was a trailer (my friend down in the US lives in one). I've seen pictures of inside her house - damn those things are huge inside! I wouldn't mind living in one if they existed up here.

Will you be getting a gas stove? I used to have one in an old apartment - LOVED it. I like the idea of solar panels - I hope to have some on my home.

No, I'm not living with my mom anymore. I moved out in May into a 2br apartment. That development thing sounds so neat! Unfortunaltey, I'm in Canada and I'm sure it's American only.
