Not sure where to put this, so I figured this was an okay spot.

Does your baby/toddler/child seem to like the foods that you craved during pregnancy?

Just curious

Oh yes he does, what he can eat at this age. We have yet to try shrimp and lobster but I am sure he will eat one of them.

With my oldest I craved salsa and chocolate. He loves chocolate but won't touch salsa.

With my youngest, I craved everything. Ice cream, smoothies and those big pretzels, all of which he loves.

With my first, it was pancakes and french fries, and yes he loves them.

With this one, it's been pickles and mac & cheese. We'll have to see what happens!

Interesting thread! I craved more salty foods and fruit w/DS1 and that is what he LOVES. DS2...I was so sugar crazed and now I have to stop him from overindulging in sweets. If I sat a plate full of cupcakes between DS1 & 2 ... DS2 would gobble them all up and DS1 would ask where the chips are. (That actually happened at DS1 bday party last yr...he didn't touch any of his cake but DS2 ate his and his brothers -- before I caught him!!!) I don't know about DD yet...

Yes! With both pregnancies I craved tomatoes, something I had always hated. Both kids love tomatoes!

I also craved dairy during both pregnancies and both kids had dairy sensitivities.

I craved dried apricots, ice cream and cilantro.

DS loves ice cream. He's on the fence about cilantro. Apricots have always upset his tummy.

During my first pregnancy I craved cheese and pizza, and my toddler adores both foods, although there's not a lot of toddlers who would turn down one or the other.

There were not enough fresh tomatoes in the world to satisfy my cravings with my first dd and she will just not eat them. She will try one or two grape tomatoes now and then but that is it. She is a typical kid when it comes to tomato sauce, though, so there is hope! : <-----just had to use the flying tomato smiley!

I spent the entire pregnancy unable to have any cheese, much less pizza. And wouldn't you know it, she hates cheese and refuses to have pizza unless it's been de-cheesed.

On the other hand, I couldn't get enough chili -- which seems to be her favourite. Last time I made up a pot of chili, she ate most of an adult-size portion!

I craved ice cream cakes. Specifically, Baskin's Robbin's ice cream cakes, and to be even more specific, it was the frosting around the edges of the cake. I worked in an office of enablers, and at least once a week they'd buy me an ice cream cake and they'd allow me to scrape all the icing off for myself. It was like having a baby shower every Friday for 38 weeks.

DS doesn't turn his nose up at ice cream. But, does anyone?

The only real craving I had was oranges (I did want to eat plenty! But I don't consider just wanting to shove in the good stuff a real craving).

The craving began before I even suspected I was pregnant (i.e. a week or two after conception). It was insane - I wanted an orange, DH peeled one for me (I don't peel oranges well!) and I gobbled it right up. He said he wanted a slice, and went and peeled TWO oranges, one for me and one for him. I ate them both. He might have had a slice, not sure. This went on for about a week, with me needing about 4 oranges a day. When I suddenly thought, wow, am I pregnant? It suddenly made a lot of sense.

I wanted oranges throughout pregnancy but not quite at the insane rate as that first week!

They are high in folic acid, I read.

DD loves oranges. While there are several foods she loves, I think she gets more excited about oranges than anything else!

This is sort of the opposite. I had a food aversion to chicken from even before I knew I was pregnant and DS is allergic to chicken.

Yes though I'm not sure if they like it because I ate it or if I ate it because they liked it! With my first, Thai, Mexican, anything spicy, and that's the kind of stuff she likes. My second, GUACAMOLE. Homemade, all the time. I didn't like spicy food at all with her (though I love spicy food normally) and her taste is definitely milder than my first's.

DS is a very picky eater, and I have no idea why because I ate EVERYTHING when I was pregnant with him!

I loved this yummy minestrone soup at a local Italian restaurant, and he loves soup too.

But, I would drink at least two huge glasses of chocolate milk every day for the last few weeks. We've recently discovered that he is allergic to dairy.

Well....

My dd loves loves loves loves loves peanut butter. Which I've lived on since, oh, age of one. And chili. Also a big one here. And lots of spicy stuff...sort of threw me, but, makes sense, since I ate a lot of it while pregnant.

However, she also loves berries. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries. Bleh.

Raspberries (even in candy form) make me hurl. The only one i can stand to eat is strawberries.

Yeah, I also craved cheese and ooey-gooey Mexican food, and C loves it.

I craved dairy-- cheese, milk, ice cream, and she had a dairy sensitivity when she was a small infant, as a PP said. Seems to have outgrown it, though....

Yes!!! I couldn't get enough salad when I was pg w/ dd. Seriously, I'd eat several heads of lettuce a day if I had it. And Cora adores salads, always has. And not just with ranch. Ceasar and ginger-lime are also faves, in addition to ranch.

I can't handle a lot of spice normally, but when I was pregnant I craved spice so ate the hot Indian food, the hot salsa, spicy thai, etc. Now my tastes have gone back to normal, but the kid loves to eat spicy food.

For us it's just the opposite.

During my pregnancy I had a terrible aversion to both mushrooms and anything pickled--to the point where even a fleeting thought of mushrooms/pickled veggies made me run for the nearest restroom.

DD's favorite food these days? Pickled mushrooms
