I am starting to wean my 18 mth ds and am sad. I know that I will miss it as much as he. I feel like the time is right though.

How many days does it take till you dry up?

It is now a day and a half since I have started. He still wants to bf and normally I have to pull him off even after he has emptied me out.

Thanks

I don't think you are ever going to dry up while you are still breastfeeding.

Why are you weaning if you and he are so sad to stop?

i was wondering that too.
18 months is still so young by many standards.
just take it one day at a time either way.

A friend of mine cold-turkey stopped nursing her 18 month old this summer, although she was ready to be done. She said it took her daughter about 3 - 4 days to stop asking for it.

On another note, I read once that you can still produce milk for up to a year after you stop (although we may be talking about a few drops.) I hope it gets easier for you both, whatever you decide.

LLL has a book called "How Weaning Happens". Maybe that will help answer your questions.

If you're sad about it, why wean?
