Sarah is taking it to a whole new level in our house. She woke up yesterday and the first word out of her mouth was "Bee? Bee? Bee?!?!!?!!!!!" when she didn't see her baby. She carries it around and unceremoniously drops it when she wants to do something, but it has to be within eyesight when she's ready to resume mothering or she goes nuts. Her aunt helped her make a diaper for it yesterday. She was happy.
This is my experience as well. All of my boys have had their own doll; Tehila, however, is the first to cart it around everyplace and play with it all the time. It truly must be an innately 'girl' thing. Since Tehila plays with dolls, Gedalya does by default - so I have plenty - I can't have them fighting over a baby.

Our conversation today, while I was singing along to the radio while getting ready to go outside ---

Adam: "Mama, please stop singing."
Me: (teasing) "Why? I'm a good singer!"
Adam: "No."
...and then he actually added "Please don't sing outside."

I'll have you all know I continued to sing. Loudly.

And so it begins already.

Happy Spring Equinox mamas!

LoL Emily! That's cute! My DD and DS are about the same way with dolls. I haven't pushed either to be "into" dolls more than the other; that I'm aware of. It's just kind of happened.

Sorry you're having a tough time Rivka. Were you able to get an appt. yet for your DS?

Here's a for anyone else that may need one today, tommorrow, this week.

Here on the homefront, we've begun talking more and more about the coming birth and having a baby around. Cheyne and Kaianna really enjoy watching my belly moving all around and like to blow raspberries on it for the babe to hear. I admit this is not my fave activity; but its cute they are trying to entertain the baby. I asked C what he thought about having a baby. He said, "Cheyne will poke baby, Cheyne will pinch baby. " then he chuckled. Like this will be fun for the baby. Grrreeeeat. I sure hope he changes his mind. lol. Anyhow, its exciting having them participate in getting things ready for baby. They seem excited.

I can't wrap my head around this little guy being a big brother. He's always been the little brother/ the "baby". Its pretty wild for me. I feel like I've been cramming the last few months getting him a bit more independent and able to do more for himself. Which he has been fine with him because most of the time I hear, "No! I do it!!" I'm happy him and I are on the same page there.

What are you all doing for Easter/Ostara this weekend?

Be well, Andrya

emily, i love the singing story . i'm so glad laurel still thinks i have the best voice in all the land. i'm pretty sure i'm tone deaf .

andrya, sounds like you're in for an adventure. i was blessed, i guess, that laurel really didn't know what poking and pinching were...and still kindof doesn't. not that she's super gentle all the time or anything. we're working on keeping her feet out of the baby's face as of late. but she's a great big sister and a huge help. i thought she was going to be too young to be a big helper, but she thankfully proved me wrong.
and i got plenty of belly zerberts as well .

for the holidays...
they started yesterday with my 33rd birthday. but since steve works all the time we'll celebrate by going to the hot springs on monday. i wanted to have an equinox celebration, but all our moon friends are out of town. i had a fairly lame birthday.
oh, but actually our holidays started on the 19th. my sister had her baby...felicia mary!
today we went to the full moon fire ceremony at the ashram, followed by a big feast.
tonight we are having a beermakers dinner at our restaurant...4 local beers paired with an ap, entree and dessert each. should be a fun party.
after that is over the native american elders have come for a land blessing ceremony over the land that lexam is trying to drill on, followed by a peyote ceremony. i'd love to attend the first half, but i might be too wiped out after work. i don't think i can handle psychedelics anymore. at least not until the kids are out of the house 18+ years from now.
tomorrow is a big benefit concert to help the fight to stop the drilling.
sunday i might try to wake up for the easter service at the carmelite monestary, but it's at 5 am. if we miss it we'll get to the christian church's service at 11. then off to an egg hunt in the park.
i've decided our new tradition for our easter baskets is a terra cotta pot, seeds, and soil. we can paint the pot all festive and plant some flowers. this year i'm going for violas (since you can eat them!).
then monday is kirtan with dave stringer.
i haven't had this much to do in a really long time. where is the smilie of the passed out mama?

Hi everyone! I've been MIA. Henry got sick -- throwing up for the first time ever -- last weekend, and then we just got busy. He's also been very clingy and whiny the past few days. I suspect teething. When are those darn molars going to all be in, anyway?

Emily, Henry has started telling us to stop doing things, too, though he still seems to like our singing most of the time.

Jeremy, I love the flowerpot idea. I want to make our Easter celebration more of a "spring" celebration, since we're "cultural Christians" only, as a friend of mine calls it. We are dying eggs tomorrow and I'm making up a basket of some art supplies for Henry to find Sunday morning. No candy, since he doesn't know the difference anyway. Maybe next year we'll do the plant thing. We got about a foot of snow today (and it's still falling) -- this after the tons of snow we've had all winter FINALLY melted last week. I am SO ready for spring.

Wow, I am feeling tired reading these last few posts. Andrya, I am getting excited for your baby - I think Cheyne will come into his own - I recently found a book called "All By Myself" and Adam reads it to me, detailing the things that Little Monster does all by himself and for his sister.... Adam likes the parts where he helps his little sister. He emphasizes the word 'little' - funny!

Jer, what a fun life you have! I want to come hang out. Happy birthday!!!

Big ((hugs)) to our sick Henry and to you, NM. Oh, sick children are hard. I am sure you are blessed with your usual patience, but here's a virtual glass of wine for you tonight: :glass

We dyed eggs tonight - Sarah thought yellow was magnificent and now both of her hands are stained a lovely jaundice-type color...I suspect for the next few days.... She got one egg and she loved it so much - I think it may have made it into four pieces. But, it's in the fridge and ready to go. Adam adored picking colors and dropping eggs in. I think the highlight was my mom asking Sarah to give her the crayon to write on an egg and Sarah actually clutched it to her chest and said "No. Mine." Her first sort-of sentence! She's been hanging around her brother a little lately...

I didn't do candy in the baskets - I actually put toothbrushes and toothpaste in them. And books and glue and punch balloons. You guys need to try punch balloons if you haven't already - amazingly fun! Glue - well, what can I say? My kids like to glue stuff.

We're down at my mom's for another day and then we leave on Monday. I am kind of ready to get back home -- but I am so freaking over this effing snow. Enough already!

Anyway, happy Easter to those who celebrate - and love to all.

I'll be brief due to being sick - had a cold and then coupled with holiday preparations for our holiday on Firday, I came down with mastitis tonight - am weak as a lamb and am running a fever of 101.5. Eating something now so I can take ibuprofen and shower to get moist heat on me. Ibuprofen so perhaps it'll knock out the fever a little so I won't be so shaky and weak in the shower.
We had snow here too.

So sorry you're ill. I had mastitis (or maybe just a plugged duct) once and it was awful. I hope you feel better soon.

We dyed eggs yesterday and invited our Jewish neighbors over to participate. It was fun to show them different techniques. I think it will be an annual thing.

Of course Henry wanted me to draw trains and clocks on his eggs before we dipped them.

Trains and clocks - excellent. We put things on everyone's eggs, too - and the best part was asking Adam what we should put on other people's eggs. His opinions ranged from a smiley face (his) to a piece of cheese (Sarah) ... and when we asked what we should put on Papa's egg (my stepdad) - he pondered and replied "A glass of wine." My mother and I shrugged and I drew a little glass of wine for Papa.

Oh, and big news at our house? Sarah slept five hours straight last night before her first nightwaking. First. Time. Ever. Her previous record was four hours. Yahoo!!

Hey mamas, check out the photography session we had today:

Same here, Katie. My little one just could not sleep near us -- and neither could we! She's been happily thrashing and sleeping in her own bed since she was 12 months.

I do remember Annabelle slept through the night early on -- you lucky mama! -- for 12 hours when O still could not sleep more than 5 or 6. Ah, the days when they were 5 months old....sigh.

Katie -- The photos are GOR. (Hey, remember that word we made up?) Those photos look like the kind you get on stock photo sites -- 100% professional with perfect lighting and everything!

Tivka, sweetheart, remember you have needs, too!

hey mamas! you guys are sure quiet this month! How is everyone doing? How are our toddlers doing? What's new these days?

I wanted to pop in to say hello real quick and to say that I am super excited for tomorrow night! It will be my first time going out by myself to eat out with 8 other moms. It's my Mom's night out and I can't wait! It's been wayyyy too long! I was thinking about this group and how wonderful it will be to have an Aug05mamas night out!

I've been preparing for Justin's 1st birthday(April1st) and decided to just have a nice dinner out with friends and their families...none of the balloons, cakes, and graffitti type of party.

Hope you guys are all doing great! Have a good night..
