C. won't eat avocados either...I've never tried guac. because I'm not particularly fond of it...it could be interesting.

C. loves hummus...LOVES it. If there are no carrots or apples or other dip-ables...he will repeated dip his finger in the dish of hummus itself.

My boys loved guacamole, one still does. We love it too so I didn't think it unusual. Plain avocado more so--both would eat that when they were younger. They both loved black olives; not sure if that is weird or not?

the guac was kind of an accident LOL we were at a cookout when DD was um 8 or 9 months old? and she desperately wanted to eat something with me. Well, she had very few teeth for any baby-suitable grilled meat, and I wasn't going to stuff her on dessert, so I figured she could try the homemade guacamole LOL and she LOVED it! I mean I got her her very own little bowl and spoon and she ate a bowl of guac with me LOOOOOOL she has loved it ever since.

she has just learned how to dip. I should introduce her to hummus

sophie ate a piece of spicy tuna sushi at a restaurant last week LOL she loves rice so I wasn't too surprised. I had to take the seaweed wrapper off the outside though cause she couldn't chew it.

My girl loves strong flavors like Hummus and curry. She also loves sour things like lemon wedges and plain yogurt. My parents say I used to eat lemon wedges whole, rind and all, when I was a baby.

I always joke that I made her out of curry and grapefruit since that was all I wanted to eat when i was pregnant, maybe that explains her preferences...

DS eats plain avocado even though he had the season version(guacamole). I cannot think of anything else. Wait..except some day ago he was eating baked beans(trader joes version) and really liked it. And he did eat split pea soup w/ yams in it.

I'm thinking he will soon start to eat stranger stuff as both DH and I are from the caribbean and cook 'interesting stuff' according to others.

DD1 eats lemons. Not just sucks on them-- she peels them and eats them like an orange. She's not a toddler anymore, but she loved them when she was.

DD2 likes anything with jalapenos.

DS eats orange rind.

I'm not sure what things DD loves are considered strange. She adores guacamole - if we go to a Mexican restaurant I order her a side of guacamole as her meal. It comes quickly and keeps her occupied for the whole meal. She also adores hummus, even if it's too garlicy for my taste. She eats lemon slices and pretty much any citrus you put in front of her quite happily. When I was pregnant with her I craved fresh fruit (especially acidic fruits) and cheese. She adores fruit and cheese. She's addicted to Ranch flavored Quaker Rice cakes She recognizes the bag and demands them often. As far as junk food goes, I figure we could do worse.

My 3 y/o lovvves salad (romaine, grape tomatoes, green bell peppers, cilantro, w/ lemon juice)...It strikes me as odd b/c of the texture thing w/ most toddlers (and me myself w/ some foods) but of course I can't say no!:

My toddler loves almost any food he has ever tasted I never thought of any of them as strange (since they are all normal to us!) but friends have commented on sashimi and sushi, wasabi, sauerkraut, guacamole, artichokes, hearts of palm, jicima drenched in salt and lime juice, "stinky" cheeses of any kind, dill pickles, and how he can eat kiwi by the dozen...

: sounds good to me! ha! (darn now I'm hungy for sushi again!)

My DS is NOt a good eater overall, but has tried and liked some "weird" things. He also seems to like artichoke hearts. But probably his weirdest right now is raw onions. He likes the crunch. Have to say he comes by it honestly as so do I . But still, I don't think I ate it as a toddler!

My DS loves sauteed asparagus. I think when we have it as a side dish he ends up eating more than DP and I do!

He's also a very big fan of coucous, loves anything tex-mex, and can't get enough Snapea Crisps.

Dd loved lightly steamed broccoli with melted sharp cheddar when she was a toddler. She'd eat a big plateful of it at a sitting. She doesn't like mild cheddar or other mild cheeses, but only the sharp varieties.

Her favorite food at the moment (age 4) is sushi tuna rolls. We have to go out at least once a week to her favorite sushi bar.

Raw potato (raw pretty much any veggie, actually, including beet or chard stems), orange and lemon (rind and all), sushi, strong cheese. He likes most foods he's tried, which is pretty much everything we eat.

DD likes raw vegetables like raw zucchini, raw broccoli, etc. She also doesn't mind eating bitter herbs.

Lentils.

We were at a festival the other day and got some Etheopian. She let us sample her new dish she was making, and it was lentils. I said, "Look, ds, your favorite! Lentils!" and she did a double take and said, "really?" "oh, yes" I said as ds shoved them into his mouth. "god bless you" she said. The whole interaction was very funny!
