Happy June everyone. I'm wondering what's going on w/ my body. I'm 13 dpo, no af, and all I get is bfns. 13 days is a really long lp for me...I'm taking progesterone cream, so maybe that is the cause of the high temps and the fact that af keeps staying away? All I've been using is internet cheapies, so I think I'm going to get a real test today just to make sure I'm not pg before I quit the cream. I know I'm not pg; I just wish my body would cooperate. In tao, kamaimama says I won't get pg until next fall! That seems like a long wait. I hope she's wrong, lol. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I'm just frustrated this mornin'.

If you LO doesn't eat what you've made them for breakfast/lunch/dinner, do you try something else? Or just let them not eat for the time being and let them 'tell you' when they're hungry?

I just made oatmeal for ds (and me), which I don't make for him hardly ever, and added lots of goodies to it. I put him in the highchair, which he was happy to do, and then not one bite...not even a drink of his rice milk. He just kept saying 'dow?' Sounds like a question when he says it, but he's asking to get down...hmmm...maybe he is saying it as a question

So what do you do?

Marilyn, wife to DH 09/02 and mama to my boys, DS1 11/06 and DS2 02/09, and a new one on the way in 06/12!

That happens here sometimes too, and if he's not interested by the time I finish my food I just put him down.

katiedidbug - Hope you get your bfp soon and not next fall lol!

Why are you taking progesterone cream? Sounds like that could be interfering, maybe? Do get a real preg. test. Perhaps it's too early for the other tests to register it?

This is part of toddlerhood We usually try something else - one of DD's favourites - strawberries, ham, bacon, sliced peaches, orange, Just Tomatoes Fruit Tropical. Then we can see if she's really hungry and often it starts her eating the other food, too.

I was taking it to lengthen my lp. I went to Walgreen's today and got a digital test, and it was bfn, which of course I knew it would be. I'm going to stop taking the cream today.

If he doesn't like what I've made him, I keep searching til I find something that he'll eat.

We usually don't have a problem with breakfast, Asheby loves oatmeal, but not cold cereal at all. It's dinner here. He just doesn't eat anything. Oh well, its pretty hot, and sometimes I don't want much either when its hot.

I keep hoping to get on here and see that you got a BFP Katie! ~~~bfp vibes~~~

Well, not this cycle. :
Okay, don't think I'm a total idiot, but I paid this lady $6 to do a "reading" for me, lol!! I can't beleive I did that. Apparently she will tell me when I will conceive. And to think, when I was growing up, I thought that psychics, fortune telling, etc, was a one-way ticket to hell. My how things change ...

Okay, here are the results of my "reading":
Hi Katie,
Your reading indicates that you did indeed ovulate the end of May - they specify the May 17th - 19th as your ovulation days.
Your reading reveals that your BFP news comes the month of November 2008 from a cycle that begins the month of October 2008. The baby shows as a girl and her EDD/birthdate is referenced the month of July 2009 - specific reference to the 29th.

I offer her fruit or a yogurt and don't make a fuss. The days she doesn't eat are rare so I'm not too bothered.

the one meal of the day i can't get DD to EVER eat is breakfast. I guess becuase I usually nurse her right when she wakes up and then we slowly get up/play for an hour or so after. She has issues with eating solids anyway, so I'm extended bf'ing for the most part. There are a few things she likes to eat, (raisins cut up , shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, pasta, pepperoni) but she never wants to eat them in the morning!

I usually just let her not eat it. What Ella likes the best is whatever I'm eating. I usually end up giving her some of my toast. Her older siblings usually have cold cereal for breakfast so she'll often have some dry cold cereal when they're eating breakfast. What she likes best is to nurse but I like to give her the opportunity to eat solids first.

You're not the only one. For me, I keep thinking that a spring baby would be nice. So far we have winter, summer and fall - not that I wouldn't be happy with a baby any time.

Hi mamas, glad to catch the thread on its first page! Talia isn't hungry right away in the morning either, though she does like to munch on rice cake until she does get hungry. Both my dds are sick right now, which is a bummer! Talia's fever went up to 202, and dd1's was almost up to 103! yikes. I hope they are feeling better tomorrow, it seems like it'd be awful to have a fever in this heat! I let dd1 watch some movies today, so of course Talia watched also, which is strange to me, because even when dd1 saw a movie, or tv, at Talia's age, she just glanced at it and kept running..... Talia get's excited though, especially when she sees animals on the screen!
I know some of you mamas did self-feeding, and I'm wondering if you're seeing a difference (if you have older dc and didn't do self-feeding with them)? Talia can put away more food than dd1!!! It's incredible. And dd1 is still so picky and eats like a bird. I truly think the self-feeding thing set Talia up to be a more healthy eater... any other experiences with this?

If Adam doesn't eat the food I give him, I assume he's not hungry. He's not picky at all and he eats like a horse LOL. Every morning when we wake up, I change his diaper and put him into his high chair where he eats breakfast and watches a cartoon. He usually eats eggs, toast, oatmeal, fruit, cheese etc. (Not all at once, LOL). We're still BFing but he's down to about 3 or 4 times a day and once or twice at night (I'm going to let him wean himself). He drinks watered down juice or whole cow milk with his meals.

Adam is growing up so fast. He's still my little shrimp but he's so intelligent and verbal. He amazes me everyday. We're really starting to have conversations with eachother.

WOW! This is us, exactly. DS was FF, on solids before 4 months, and had a lot of jarred wall-paper paste spoon fed into his mouth. Yes, what WAS I thinking!!? Anyway, DD was BF, started solids when she decided to take them off my plate, around 5 months (still early - but her choice, not mine!) and she uses the spoon (or fork or knife) herself.

DS eats like a bird, picking at it and moving it from one side of the plate to the other. DD eats 5-6 square meals a day, tries everything, and has rarely turned down food. Yes, I think part of it is control - does the DC control their food, or the parent? I also think part is age - DD is still growing like mad and needs the constant food. And I think part is just different people with different metabolisms and different tastes.

We only offer the same food at meals as DH and I eat. But I always make sure at least 1, and prefereably 2 or 3 of the things is something DS and DD will like to eat. It is always their choice to eat or not.

Anyone's DC totally into photos? DD insists on watching our family album slide show multiple times a day. She comments on who is in the picture, what they are doing... She loves seeing herself and DS, but the weird thing is she usually asks to see the people she doesn't know well, or has never even met! Like DSs little friend Anikka she saw 3 months ago, my friend Joan, who she's seen less than 10 times, or her nephews Mitchell and Grant whom she has never seen and she wasn't even born when the pictures were taken. Why does she do this - in preparation for if/when she might meet them? I think I need to find something else for her to look at.

If you're talking about BLW, we didn't really do that but I learnt from my mistakes with dd1 and dd2 eats really well. dd1 was picky around 3 or 4 so we might still be in for something but at the mo I know not to push something if she's not keen and not to keep giving her something if she likes it - dd1 def suffered from overdoing favourites and now isn't keen on them! She's had to learn how to try new things all over again. Now she's 12 and eats brilliantly and tries new things most days!

And as for photos - I did a montage on one true media and Millie LOVES it!

In fact here you go - you can enjoy it too!

DS LOVES (!) to see pictures of himself. It's getting more difficult to get cute things on video because as soon as he sees the camera, which is usually right when we get it out, he's running over and asking to see the video screen. (We have a digital video camera that you can turn the screen over and see yourself being recorded, if that makes sense.) So we turn it so he can see himself, and then sometimes he stares at himself, sometimes he giggles. It's annoying to miss the stuff we're trying to tape, but it's a cute little quirk!

[Back to the pictures question]...We have a couple little photo albums with pictures of family, and ds loves to look through them and point to people, asking who they are. Cute! (It kinda makes me sad when he doesn't recognize my close family members because we live in another state. He has certain pictures memorized of who people are, but if we show him new pictures, he's not so quick to point them out )

I hope they are feeling better tomorrow, it seems like it'd be awful to have a fever in this heat!
Hope they are feeling better soon!

This is DD#1 and DD#2. I think we gave DD#1 baby food and we did baby led weaning with DD#2.

DD#2 can eat DD#1 under the table! DD#2 is NOT picky and will at least try almost anything. She loves Indian food and Japanese food and Mexican food. DD#1 is an old fusspot! DD#2 will NOT eat baby food. DD#1 at age 10 still *LOVES* baby food. However, we also gave DS baby food and he will also try almost anything and loves all types of food. At age 13 yo he does NOT eat baby food, nor has he for at least 10 years! So - who knows?

Asheby LOVES to have his pic taken, he poses everytime I get my phone or my camera out, Yesterday I got an awesome video on my phone of him saying I love you (understandably) the first time he said it!! Now if I could just figure out how to get it online and post it, it is so cute.

Warren absolutely loves his oatmeal for breakfast, he'll eat a DH sized bowl of it. He insists upon feeding himself though which is fine by me now that he's pretty adept with the spoon.
It took a few weekends for DH to get it, he kept trying to switch up the breakfast routine. DS would have none of that and refused to eat anything but his oatmeal for breakfast. So oatmeal it is.

Lunch is hit and miss, I try to give him finger foods like cheese, crackers, fruit, muffins etc. but supper is still a battle.
He is expanding the range of foods he'll eat again (when he first started on solids he'd eat even steak! Then he decided to be a vegetarian for a bit), but he also has this thing about throwing food and dishes on the floor. It's....frustrating...and difficult to keep it from turning into a battle of the wills. Honestly sometimes he seems to throw the sippy cup completely out of habit and not because he even thinks about it.

Okay - milestone day today!
I'm miss-anti soother. But for some reason (gas) he ended up getting soothers. Not in excess, and as of the last 8 months he has only gotten them for sleeping. He knows this and when he gets out of bed he'll put both soothers on his dresser and leave them there until next sleep time.
But he's always had to have TWO soothers. He'd switch them back and forth until he fell asleep. We've tried in the past to just put him to bed with one, but it's never been successful. Not a big deal I guess.
But this morning he got out of bed and brought the one to me, it's falling apart. So we chucked it in the garbage and since there's no extras around the house, he actually went down for his nap with ONE soother! Ahhh there is light at the end of the tunnel, I think he might just be done with the other one sooner than later too one can hope!

DH and I - totally winging life with our four children, DS1 (6.5yrs), DS2 (5yrs), DD (3yrs) and DS3 (1)!
