I have been pregnant and bfing before but not ecologically bfing. My 19 month old still nurses a TON. I have never tandem nursed either. Some questions: My nipples are sore. Fortunately I have a friend going through this right now so I figure it goes along with the territory, correct? Also, will my milk supply subside? Will this guide my 19 month old into weaning? I suppose I need to get tandem nursing books, huh? I'm afraid the new baby won't get what he/she needs. Also, i'd be nice if 19 mo dd would sleep through the night before new baby gets here. Currently, she is in our room (in a toddler bed). Any suggestions would be great!

yes, sore nipples go with the territory, the tenderness seems to usually become a bit less in the 2nd trimester, though for most doesn't completely go away.
your milk supply will probably decrease/switch to colostrum over the coarse of the pregnancy. to keep it from going down right away eat lots of food, drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest. your toddler may or may not wean with the lack of milk.
the baby gets nutrition first, then the nursling, then the mom, so you start to feel bad from lack of nutrients before there's an affect on your growing baby. and the extra nutritional needs do stack, so you need to eat, eat, eat.
Kellymom has a section on breastfeeding through pregnancy and tandem nursing, and the book I've seen recommended the most is "Adventures in Tandem Nursing"
