DD is 17 months and was still nursing. She wasn't constantly asking to nurse but she usually asks about twice during the day and at bedtime. Two nights ago she didn't want to nurse which is really out of character for her. Once her pjs are on she has nursing on the mind and nothing else will do. The next night she tried latching after not nursing that day and she couldn't latch. She was fine with me holding her and putting her to bed without nursing. The next day she asked during the day but she wasn't really latching and the same with tonight. I asked if she wanted milk at bedtime tonight and she shaked yes with her body and pointed to my breasts. She gets in position and just makes sucking motions with her mouth but she isn't really latching or even trying to latch. She is not getting upset about it and doesn't mind when I stop trying. I am not sure what is going on. It is the strangest thing. How could she forget to nurse? It was only one day she went without nursing  It also seems strange that she would be weaning so young with no signs of it coming. She isn't as attached to it as ds was and eats a lot but she showed no signs of weaning. Today she keeps asking to nurse so I think she still wants to but she is not latching at all. What is going on and what can I do about this?

My little one does that when he's in pain (mouth, throat or ears) or when he is so stuffed up he can't breathe through his nose. I try to deal with it quickly so it doesn't lead to a nursing strike.

These links may help:

http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/fussy-while-nursing.html (I know it

s for younger babies, but some of the reasons for baby to be fussy/not nurse may be the same.)

Good luck!

She doesn't have a cold right now and she isn't teething right now. Her molars already came in. She did bite her lip when this started but it seems healed now. I haven't gotten engorged at all even though she usually nurses so I wonder if my supply dropped suddenly. I have been on my cycles and do not have af right now.
