DS2 is having surgery next week and I just learned that he won't be allowed anything except clear fluids for 12 hours before surgery. He goes in at 10 am. The problem is that he still nurses 2-3 times at night. I asked the dr. if bm was a clear liquid, and she no, so no bm after 10 pm. I know he won't go back to sleep unless he nurses. DH won't be around either, so getting him to console ds back to sleep is not an option. Any tips on dealing with what will likely be a rough night? DS2 is almost 2.5 btw, so he really doesn't need to nurse (although he would argue that!!!).
Hmmm, I've always heard the breastmilk IS a clear fluid.... Here's what Kellymom says about it. If it were me, I'd nurse until about 3-4 hours before the surgery then give him a bottle or cup of water.
