I have a 28 month old and am thinking about getting pregnant again, but am nervous about breastfeeding.  I don't feel that my toddler is ready to stop nursing but I am afraid that I will not have enough energy while pregnant.  I am also aware that breastmilk changes to the needs of the child as the child gets older...such as fat content, etc.  So what happens when you breastfeed an infant and toddler?  Does it change to the infants needs?  Is this detrimental to either child?  Just looking for advice from experienced moms.

Thank you!
Christine

Hi there!

I'm a tandem mama (and actually pregnant with my 3rd, so soon to be tridem :D)

I highly recommend reading "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" and "Mothering the Nursing Toddler"

BM changes to the higher fat/nutrient content for the baby, but that just means toddler gets beefed up super milk :)

I'm a tandem nursing mama, and actually I found that nursing was the easiest thing I could do that would make my child happy. While I did have some aversion during pregnancy, it was still so much easier to just whip out the boob and nurse when I was exhausted and fatigued from the first trimester (and third).
