My naturopath would like me doing castor oil packs daily and then every other other day and knows I am breastfeeding.  My IBCLC said it was okay.  But a lot of info I see online says it is not okay and it is a detox.  Anyone have any knowledge on this?  My baby is just shy of 2 but nurses at least 6x a day and a LOT during the night.  I also called the Infant Risk Center and they talked to Dr Hale who said it does not pass into the milk.  That doesn't really answer the detox question though.

For me, I would weigh the benefits against the potential risks. How much do you feel like you need to do the castor oil packs? How badly is your condition affecting your life?

What are they being recommended for? I've read that they can be used to support the lymph system, on the lower abdomen for reproductive issues, for inflammation in joints and for detoxing the liver. If you're using it for detoxing the liver, I'd think it would be more of a concern than if it was for joint inflammation.
