I think I need to wean my 26 month old DD from her 4-6am nursing time. She sleeps through the rest of the night most nights, and just wakes to nurse in the early morning for about 30-45 minutes or an hour, often right when I am ready to get up to go to work. So, I have been late to work often, which is okay. But I am having very bad back problems (I have a herniated disk that has reared its ugly head again), and I need some time in the mornings to do some PT exercises. She sleeps in until about 8:30 or 9 as she is home with her dad (SAHD) and I am usually gone by the time she wakes up. When she has spent the night without me, her dad says that she wakes up around 5am and he gives her something to eat and she'll go back to sleep. So, my guess is she is just hungry by that time, about 7 hours into her sleep. Any ideas for me?

I'm sorry you haven't received a response yet and that I don't have any experience to share. I am bumping this up for more attention. Anyone have a suggestion or some advice?

Babies are programmed to feed between 1-5 am and that corresponds with mother's most abundant milk production as prolactin levels are at their peak. For whatever reason, the human species is designed to feed abundantly within this time frame. I don't have any helpful advise for you though. Good luck.
