Trade-off for 4 year old night nurser?

My son just turned 4, and only nurses at night, once right before bedtime. I'd like to wean him completely.

I'm thinking about getting a box of chocolates or something, and offering him one a night, instead of nursing, until the box is done. I think he would agree to it.

My concern is he seems sad if I decline that one nurse of the day, and I feel I need to offer him something else. After a couple of weeks of this, I think I would be OK with refusing him any more requests for nursing, even with no trade-off.

What do you all think of this strategy? If you weaned your child of similar age, how did you do it?
