My 15 month old is nursing like a newborn!

Eeeeeek, my poor boobies.

He has NEVER nursed like a newborn, because he was primarily formula fed. I guess he no longer cares about my supply issues, because he nurses day and night!!

Oh man... after 15-20 minutes of it, it makes my toes curl!!

I think it's because he has teeth (not to mention the twitching), they leave little grooves on the aureole (sp) after a while.

Anyone got any tips for me? Would lanolin help with this?

Hmmm, now that I read that post, it sounds really negative.

I didn't intend that at all! I love the fact that he's a boobaholic. It's so wonderful to have the bonding time. I even think it's cute when he yanks my shirt up in public

Just wanted to clarify - my post was a bit of a vent!

Glad to see this post! I don't really have any advice (sorry!) because my 15 mos dd is doing the same thing. She constantly circles me like a looming tit vulture, whining for the sweet milky goodness.... Feeling like she only appreciates me for my boobies....!!!!

Didn't mean to respond with another vent, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Sometimes I do yearn to reclaim my body....

It sounds like you may need to work on his latch?

I was wondering too if maybe there's some sort of latch issue going on, but you'd think too by 15 mo that wouldn't be a problem any more...? Is he using his teeth (scraping) at all, or does he have a good latch with lots of tongue action? I don't know if lanolin would help much unless you're having problems with dryness, chafing, etc.

My 16 mo DS has days where he wants to nurse constantly, and other days he's totally cool to eat solids and nurse just a few times. On the constant nursing days, I do feel rather worn out, but I know his latch is good, just that being nursed upon every 30 minutes is hard both physically and emotionally.

Certainly this phase won't last forever. It is kind of funny to be in public and your child tries pulling your shirt off, maybe something to laugh at later... just hang in there and before you know it he'll be into something new!

Mom of (11/27/03) and (9/29/06).

Hi Kay.

Jessie is the same way. For her it's mostly comfort nursing. She would nurse every 15 minutes, all day long if she had her way.
Not sure about the teeth thing though, she doesn't leave imprints on me. *shrug*
