I know bfing encourages weight loss in the early pp period. But did any of you ebfers find some held on untill you weaned. I am currently nursing a babe and my 3 yo. My older son only nuses 3 times a day but i think he consumes a lot of milk in that time. Now that we are cutting back as I'm weaning him, i am suddenly loosing weight. but ts hard for me to tellwhy as im still nursing the babe. Anyone else experience weight loss with weaning?

I read awhile back that when you nurse, your body holds on to it's fat stores. It's the body's way of making sure you can nurse in case it is ever deprived of food. My body definitely seems to work this way. I can never get rid of all of my extra weight in the middle until I'm done nursing. My daughter will be 1 next week but if she's anything like my son, she won't decide to quite nursing for a couple of years yet.

I hold about an extra 5-10 lbs until I wean. Unles my thyroid is acting up then it's just poof gone.

It's lonely being the only XX in a house of XYs.

Maybe your lossing wt because the babe is consuming more as time goes on, so even though your weaning the older child you may be making more milk.. Just a thought.
