My son says lots of things now, but doesn't say anything for breasts, nursing, or milk. He's 21 months. It would seem like such a big part of his life would have a name. I mean he says mama, daddy, kitty, banana, apple, ball, shoes, jacket, brush teeth, potty, DVD, cow, bear, car, cookie, juice, more, hi, bye...but the closest he ever gets to a word about nursing is occasionally saying mama in that context. Generally it's just lifting my shirt and diving in. What gives?

DD1 at that age didn't have a name for nursing. I was the one that started calling it "nee nee", it was the only word she said that didn't really mean anything, and I was tried of her hitting my chest when she wanted to nurse. It's still "nee nee" to this day.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Same here! Ds says a lot of words, but has never said anything for nursing or breasts. Actually though, I live with my parents and have other relatives around a lot that I'm not comfortable nursing in front of, so I usually nurse ds in my bedroom....so lately any time we're out in the rest of the house and he wants to nurse, he'll look around at everyone else and start waving and saying "bye bye, bye bye." It's pretty cute

Henri makes the milk sign, we call it "milky", and lately he's been making this weird mumbling sound that sounds like "tickle tickle tickle" but I think he's trying to say "milky"

DS doesn't really call it anything, he pulls on my shirt and says "uhhhh". He says quite a few other words, but hasn't come up with anything yet for my bb's. DS1 always called them nuh nuh's, and thats stuck around here. We all still call it that.

My DD says about 20 words, but she doesn't say anything for nursing. I was actually talking to a friend earlier about how I thought this was odd. She has been using the milk sign for nursies since about 9/10 months and I'm wondering if since that works well for her, she just feels like she doesn't need to say anything?

Mama to two wonderful DDs (10/06 and 09/08) and expecting a DS 1/1/11!

My daughter called it "wee" when she started saying "wee" for anything else she thought was fun. Such as spinning, going down the slide, going on the swing. She didn't start saying nursing, which is what I've always called it, until 2 months ago and now she's weaned. Actually, she says "nursey."

My son, who is 2 now, says "those?" when he wants to nurse, so technically he doesn't have a word for nursing (since he uses 'those' in other contexts as well). He also doesn't say Mama, or Mommy, or Mom, or anything to signify me.
