I am asking this here because I figure you gals have nursed the longest on the boards! My DD is 20 months old and I have yet to ovulate/get my moon. I want to do child-led weaning and i want to have another baby soon. So I just want to hear some stories of women who have been in a similar circumstance. At the moment I seem to run into two camps - those who got their moon back at around 18 months and those who weaned and then got pregnant. And if there is any advice too

Legal Mama to TWO homebirthed, unschooled, unvaxed, cloth diapered, mei tei loving, still breastfeeding baby girl 1/14/07 and an intact 8 pound 10 ouncer baby boy 4/5/10.

I got my period back at 27 months and my daughter just self-weaned at 3. Not trying to conceive or anything, though.

DS was over two when AF came back.

I knew one woman whose first child was over 3 before getting AF back.

Mine always came back at 8m postpartum even with EBF until 12m except for this time around. My youngest is 13m and I still haven't had my period. I think the difference is how much more night nursing she does than the others did at this age (she's up 5-6x/night, where the others were usually only nursing 1-2x/night by 8m or so). I'm curious to see how much longer this might go on! We're not trying to conceive so I don't mind at all. In fact, it's been a nice break from all the discomforts of PMS.

Wife to Daniel and blessed SAHM to Gabriel (6), Bronwyn (5), Jackson (3), Aubrey (2 ), and Claire (11/1/09 )

DD1 was 2.5y and DD2 was 18m. I have never weaned to get pg, it hasn't been easy though. I have a hard time getting pg while bfing.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

I never got my period back after DD2 because I conceived again when she was 12 mos. My friend calls DD2 & DD3 "back-to-back eggs"!
DD2 was nowhere near weaned at the time, but had been mostly night weaned for months. It was long enough for my hormones to start cycling. Weaning shouldn't be necessary if you can give your body a long enough interval without nursing.
Good luck and your doing great!

Trying to keep staying at home with my DDs: 11/95, 06/06, and 04/08. Married to my soulmate.
Got to admit it's getting better, getting better all the time.

I had my period back at when dd turned 11 months. Since I have PCOS and never really had my period before I got pregnant (we did IVF) I was suprised to see it return without medication. She is now 14 months old and I have had it twice.

I'm hoping to break a record, but I'm only at 13 months.

I have a friend who conceived at 15 months (or so) with no AF, though. You can start ovulating without AF returning... I just don't know how you track it. There's a reason they only say to assume you're "safe" for six months... Good luck!

I got it back at 11 months with both boys. I was really hoping it would be longer with ds2. I got it back with ds1 because he went on a 15 day nursing strike.

DD is 24 months old, and no AF yet, despite nursing only 2-3 times a day. But I'm on the minipill, and that might be affecting things.

I'm at 21 months with no AF still. We just nightweaned this week, though, so I'm hoping things will start moving again soon, because I want to have another baby soon, too! I had to have clomid to get dd, but I desperately want to have the next baby with no meds, so I'm trying to encourage ovulation as naturally as possible!!

My dd was 21 months when AF came back, and she's just now weaning at 32 months. It seems like there's a wide range of "normal" with this issue!

18 months here and no AF. All of my friends with toddlers close to DS's age have their's back. I feel a little left out, but not enough so to wish for AF to return!

dd is going to be 14 mos tomorrow and still no af. we are a long way from ttcing but i do worry we will have to reduce frequency of nursing to get fertility back. i know the odds are low but my anecdotal evid seems to be higher.
