We have an antique dark wood table that once belonged to my mother. She had it refinished with (I'm guessing) some standard clear gloss finish. Five days ago, my teenage daughter put a quart glass jar with boiling hot tea in it on the table where it ended up sitting for a good 10-15 minutes before I noticed that it didn't have a coaster under it. In the past, when a glass of hot liquid was set down on this table it would normally create a cloudy mark where the glass had been but the mark would fade after a few minutes passed once the glass was removed. This time, however, the cloudy mark is still there and it's been since Tuesday. I've already given it a little scrub with a dry scrubbing sponge but it didn't seem to have any effect. Anyone have any other creative ideas for dealing with this this? I'm hoping there's something simpler than sanding it down and refinishing. Thanks.

I've heard of using either mayo or toothpaste but I've never tried it.

If those don't work try hints from Heloise. I am pretty sure she has covered that but I don't have time to search for it and I couldn't find the search bar. Sorry

I've ironed water stains out of my kitchen table - very easy, just put down a kitchen towel and iron it (on low, NO steam) on the table until the stain is gone (just a couple of seconds), BUT I would test a small inconspicuous spot before doing this on a big area. Good luck!
