MIL just gave us a box spring and mattress. They had been in her basement for quite some time, but in good shape. When we unloaded them we noticed how musty/basementy/mildewy they smell. We've had them airing out on the porch for a couple days. Is there any hope for keeping them or should we pitch them? would anything help with removing the odor? TIA!

I say if the smell goes away after airing them then use them. I wonder if there are any natural washes or spray you could use..good question

I wouldn't. You spend so much time in bed. Especially if you have sinus issues.

If you truly need this bed, I would put it in the sun for several days (flipping regularly so both sides get sun) AND then cover with an allergen proof cover that completely covers it all.
