My friend gave me a bunch of her used baby clothes. She is a smoker, but does not smoke in her home. The clothes don't smell too bad, and my husband says they don't smell like smoke at all.. They do to me however (maybe it's because I am pregnant?), even if it isn't heavy.

Right now they are sitting in a laundry basket. I have sprinkled baking soda all over them and have been turning them over now and then, hoping that they will just kind of air out. I have considered laying them outside on a blanket to air. Does anyone have suggestions on how else to get the smell out?

I think what you're doing is great. I'd launder it with extra rinses, maybe a cycle with vinegar only? And I'd probably do at least 2 washes. I've found smoking odors usually do come out of clothes fine with any kind of extra attention.
