I've sprinkled baking soda on stuff, but I'm looking for different ideas for handling odors. Anyone got any good ideas? What have you tried? What works and what doesn't?

I like aromatherapy misters and incense for yummy scents. For removing something yucky I use natures miracle on stuff and open the windows.

I use vinegar water as a general cleaner (counter tops, floors, windows, etc) and it deodorizes amazingly. The vinegar smell only lasts a couple of minutes before it evaporates. Sometimes if I'm ambitious I'll toss in some lemon peels or a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar water spray bottle.

I also like to open all the windows/doors, burn candles, and in the fall/winter simmer a pan of "potporri" on the stove (citrus rinds, cinnamon, clove), and put lavender satchets in closets and drawers. A sweetgrass or sage smuge would also do the trick nicely if you don't mind the smokiness occasionally,

A spray bottle of water mixed with several droplets of your favorite essential oil will help. I'd like a natural version of a glade plug in, but haven't seen it.

I combine rubbing alcohol with lavender essential oil.

It's very effective; it even gets the sweaty smell out of my son's marching band uniform, and not even "real" Febreeze could accomplish that!

You could also use those candle diffusers that you add oil and water to the top of. Those work well.
