Odd...I did a search to see if I could find any articles reporting this and all I could find was numerous ads stating that they are made with non-toxic paints. Maybe whoever told you or whatever you read was wrong?

Maybe there are things in paint that make it toxic when wet, but are inert when dry. So chugging a container of paint would be a problem but sucking on a painted object wouldn't.

Bumping to check for an update.

We just found some of their wood puzzles at a great price (TJMaxx) but if Ds can't chew on them then its a no-go.

I am always a bit suspicious when threads like this come up and never get resolved. Did anyone contact M&D? We have a lot of their toys and while my dd is beyond the chewing stage she definitely put a lot of their toys in her mouth when she was teething. So, I looked at many, many toy stores online and they all say that M&D use non-toxic paint on their toys. I feel re-assured, but just in case, here are some ways they can be reached. Write back if you contact them and have anything to add.

It looks like this link has an answer, perhaps the person who posted this answer could be contacted for what the company said.

If your babe is a hard enough chewer it is probably a good idea lol. At least they are apparently non-toxic though....but better off to wait until he's older for them.
